Bosco 48-30 over HLV. Not an overly impressive showing, but the starting QB sat out much of the 2nd half with an injury.

Hats off to Don Bosco for a strong showing defensively, Strudthoff and Van Buren had to fight for every yard. Very physical matchup, DB's backup quarterback is a bulldozer. Pretty fun game to watch for the most part. Nice to meet Engine5Driver, the infamous Scobelicious and the rest of the DB guys. Hopefully we have the opportunity for a rematch in the postseason!

I think that had more to do with both defenses playing pretty damn well (at least in the first half and fourth quarter). Pretty damn good game.

First half was good, but Dons started opening it up in the third leading at one point 40-16. Starting QB goes down and next thing it's 40-30. With their starting QB, bosco might be a semi-finals team. HLV looks to be a quarter final team (both depending on draw).

After last night, id say the eastern side of the state looks like this:
1)Central Elkader
2) DB (if their QB comes back)
3) TV
4/5) HLV/ Jainesville

Losing Svoboda definitely hurt, but Don Bosco's offense wasn't doing a ton of damage even with him. He scored on a KOR, and Don Bosco also scored twice with short fields (the interception was a real flukey play, and that led to a quick touchdown with 15 seconds left in the first half).

Don Bosco may still have pulled away, but I'd be very interested to see these teams match up again down the road.

Class A Fan 06, I had high hopes for NK after last year's game against Bosco. They are a good team that is well coached. I am a bit perplexed as to what is going on this year. I think a better feeling of them will be found after next week against Janesville. Personally, I hope they stomp a mudhole in Janesville's behind, and make a strong run into the playoffs.

Engine,

N-K's first two games this year are a mystery to many around here. Granted they played two tough teams but they are way more talented than they showed. The really didn't start the year until the middle of the third quarter of the West Bend game when they were down 18-0 I believe. Took a 20-18 lead with a minute and a half to go then a long bomb and pick six later they lose by 10. Their QB, who is a dangerous athlete, missed half of the first game and all of the second. Although his presence wouldn't have mattered in the first game, they just didn't show up. Also were missing Julson, the big lineman, for the first four games after tearing an acl in wrestling. He is rounding into shape now. They have been toying with people the last 4 games. I am hoping and thinking that they will make a statement next Friday and get people to take notice. But in high school with 16-18 year old kids you never know.
