harlan or glenwood would put the hurt on a couple of those ranked teams

I assume your point is that you think one, or both should be ranked. Can't say I disagree with that, but not sure which teams they would put a hurt on.

I am surprised though that Harlan isn't ranked.

harlan or glenwood would put the hurt on a couple of those ranked teams

That statement in it's entirety makes little sense and there is nothing to back it up.

Neither Harlan nor Glenwood has logged a quality win. Yes Harlan did defeat Glenwood by 3 but what does that really mean? This is the same Glenwood team which only beat Carroll by 1 point. The same 2-4 Carroll team which has only logged wins against a 2A team and against a 3A team who has yet to win a game.

That being said Harlan finds themselves on the road week seven at Winterset. A big win on the road could make them worthy of a top 10 ranking but hardly classifies them as a team that would "put the hurt" on a couple teams in the current top 10. As for Glenwood? Not top 10 material. IMO they might be fortunate they get to play Winterset at home in 2 weeks after Winterset plays Harlan. If Glenwood were traveling to Winterset next week instead Harlan......Glenwood could have their hands full.

Luke has it right.

i hate to disagree, but i will have to disagree....harlan had jv playing carroll in 4th qtr, boone beat carroll by 1.......

dallas center grimes beat green country by 19, harlan beat them by 34......harlan beat carroll last week with 4th string qb...the 1st team qb should be back any week, maybe next week...he has yet to play....i may be wrong, but i dont think so

..and still the question remains......what quality wins does Harlan have under their belt? Glenwood? Yes they are 5-1 but as previously stated......what quality wins do they have under their belt?

Sounds like the burr under the saddle might be a 6-0 Boone being ranked while Harlan is not. If that is the case Harlan needs to focus on their schedule and let Boone worry about theirs. Boone finishes the regular season against: Ballard, DCG, and Webster City. Harlan needs to focus on their road trip to Winterset this week and I'm sure their coaching staff is doing just that.

I do not think Boone should be ranked in the top 10 at this time. Although Boone is 6-0 at this time, 5 of their wins have come against one-win teams: Creston, Bondurant-Farrar, Iowa Falls, Gilbert, and Greene County. Boone's 6th win is over 2-4 Perry.

To say that Boone lacks a signature win seems to be a significant understatement, in my opinion. I will acknowledge that their one point win over Creston in the first game of the season was before troubles apparently destroyed Creston's season.

I understand the sentiment that "a team has little control over its schedule", "can only play the teams on its schedule", etc. - however you want to put it. But I am not sure that this sentiment should come into play for ranking purposes.

I would drop Boone from the rankings at this point, slide the teams beneath Boone in the rankings up one notch, and put Norwalk at #10.

I'd go with

1. Xavier
2. Solon
3. DCG
4. WSR
5. Pella
6. SBL
7. Harlan
8. West Delaware
9. Carlisle
10. Decorah

Also to me this year it seems like we have a bunch of quality teams and everyone else is terrible, there aren't many "average" teams this year.

Harlan is playing like a ranked team. When they make it to the Dome....people will understand that.

Correction....if they have to play DCG in the playoffs prior to the Dome....Harlan will lose. Otherwise, they are there.

DCG is playing lights out right now. They will cruise the rest of the way and even put a smack down on Boone in two weeks.

You could be right about Boone. Could be a weather factor but at the half Ballard leads 13-7. As I stated earlier Boone has a tough final three weeks (including tonight) so either way it will work itself out.

If Boone loses to Ballard in any weather condition, they shouldnt be near the rankings.
