Surprised you think LC is that much better than Xavier. I truly think Xavier is the better team.

BHC2010....the Heelan-Spencer game is next week at Spencer. Heelan has a homecoming game this Friday against Storm Lake.

Xavier has had a running clock every game, too. Including against a 7th-ranked Western Dubuque squad, an undefeated (at the time) West Delaware, and Decorah.

I get that Lewis Central is good, I understand they have about two dozen or so D-1 worthy players, and perhaps the best quarterback in the state; but nobody is going to hand them the trophy in Cedar Falls without playing the game first.

I couldn't agree more, I wouldn't be surprised if LC and or Xavier get tripped up and aren't there in the end. It's tough to keep winning.

lewis central has max duggan, no one eles does....harlans coach bladt said he was the best qb he ever played against..that is something , considering how many games bladt had coached in....i do think xavier has a good team..they might give lewis central a competitive game, harlan only lose to titans last yr by 10 pts, with 2nd string qb..,,, lewis central beat west demoines valley last year, and the 2 yrs in 4a is huge advantage now playing 3a...lewis central was 15-5 in 4a, and some games were without max duggan, they could have won a couple more.....in last fridays game with lewis central vs harlan, what might surprise some people, lewis central only gained 30 more yrds than harlan. lewis central had 318 yds, harlan 284...harlan had too many mistakes and turnovers

The only thing that's deceiving about these blowouts is when the winning team takes our their starters in the third quarter, the losing team leaves theirs in... The numbers end up skewed. The trajectory of the yards and points tails off. I've seen it in the Xavier games quite a bit.

true,,,what surprised me , was harlan had there second team in there, and lewis central left there first team defense in there...and harlans 2nd team moved the ball down the field, they look better than the first team did...i thought they might score, and then they fumbled the ball.

Some very valid points. However, that Xavier defense is also unlike any Lewis Central has seen this season. I honestly think it's a very competitive game. I think it's a 1 score game honestly.

Lewis Central and Xavier are 2 of the top 3-4 teams in the state. Hands down. It will be ultra competitive.

I think both keep winning and if the committee gets it right, they both should reach the finals.

I would love to see that. I believe LC's offense is stronger than Xavier's defense though, too many weapons. I think Xavier and LC have similarly tough defenses. LC's offense ends up being too much for Xavier in the end. Duggan is too much and he has complimentary options all around him.

However, I'm not convinced they both get to the championship game. There are a lot of good teams that could pull off an upset. SBL, North Scott, Harlan, Solon, Heelan, etc. It's not easy to get to the championship game.

Also, I think North Scott is the 3rd best team in 3A and they only beat Western Dubuque by 1. Xavier spanked them by 35. Big drop off, but it is going to be fun to watch.

Thanks for correction. Crusaders 6-1 will be at home this week. They win out they will have a strong RPI with only loss in final minutes to SB. Hope state seeds first round accordingly by not putting two and three loss teams against each other because won by their district.

With basically the same team the Duggans took down Valley in the playoffs the Xavier alter boys will be in trouble trying to play catch up with Maxx.

They may hang together early but LC wins this one by 3 scores.

A lot of intrigue, would love to see it. But it would be hilarious if it ends up being a Solon vs Sergeant Bluff-Luton or Heelan vs C-C-A.

If the current RPIs hold and the top four survive to the semis, it would be #4 Xavier vs #1 SBL and #3 Lewis Central vs #2 CCA.

If North Scott beats CCA Friday, then your possible top 4 in a potential semifinal would be #4 Solon vs #1 SBL and #3 Xavier vs #2 Lewis Central. So a Xavier-LC matchup could conceivably be in the semis instead of the championship.

The teams in RPI spots 2 through about 7 are fairly close together, so there could be a little shuffling in there.

If Independence beats Waverly and if Decorah wins, you gotta drop Waverly from the rankings and have Decorah in top 10. Could already have Decorah ranked since they beat Waverly and have had losses to the #1 ranked team as well as a Western Dubuque team who is a top 10 talent.

You can check my latest post in the Playoff Guesser thread, as I made a projection of who I think might win over the past two weeks, and that actually puts North Scott into the #4 spot if they win out. Solon ends up at #6, behind Heelan.
