Yeah, that game dragged on at least 45 minutes longer than it should have with all of the injuries. I certainly hope nobody was seriously hurt.

They had the game on 9.2, Jefferson is a pretty good team, if the offense could have had more luck against CF the defense would have been alright.

CF must have really worked on its its run blocking because #32 was getting some big yards.

I'm pretty sure this game was designed to control the ball so the 28-0 score should not be an indicator that this team cannot score a bunch when needed

Something was considerably different. They definitely did old-time CF football with Ostrich carrying 32 times. The defense was lights out last night. CF ran 40 more plays than Jeff (68 v 28, I think) and had TOP 32:00 to 16:00.

Still hard to believe that the undersized Dline and LBs are able to swarm, they might be I trouble going ng against some ball control teams.

Other than that they flew to the ball. CF probably could have scored 50, but it was nice to see them mix the run and pass

.

It wasn't that Jefferson didn't show up, they actually ran a pretty good offense, until penalties and injuries did them in

They have been in trouble when someone wants to work the clock on a long drive. Bett and Ankeny had a number of them. Hempstead dinked and dunked their way downfield, and that didn't have quite the same effect as a ground game. This team really is fast at the line and LBs. As we have discussed for weeks now, somewhat undersized. 215, 200, 210, 220 and Nieman coming in at DT at 285. Had same kind of guys last year and only Dowling was able to handle them.

Bohnenkamp and Clements are playing so well together on their side. Weimer has missed two weeks, but is very good, plus Weichers and Nieman in there...

It was over at 7-0. Jeff didn't have anything after 14-0 for sure.

^^This. Two of the inherent problems for teams who run triple option offenses are that 1. they tend to put the ball on the ground a lot and have a ton of turnovers, and 2. Even when they do score, it's only after long, time consuming drives themselves.

Triple option teams seldom come back from 2 score deficits. It either takes them too long, or they have to go out of their game plan and comfort zone and pass more. So when CF themselves was busy hoarding the ball, it didn't take long to knock Jeff out of their game plan. Their defense made some plays, but at the end of the day, they were asking an awful lot of their offense, especially after the injuries.

Dubuque Hempstead and CR Prairie tied in 3rd Quarter, 14- 14. Long timeout with Hempstead injury. Mustangs hold at goal line on one foot line, and take over, then turn ball over and Prairie goes ahead 21-14 in 4th. Hempstead ties game 21- 21 on an 85-yard pass to Hill.

CR Prairie 28, Dub. Hempstead 27, as Hempstead's try for two failed.
Dubuque Senior 28, Waterloo West 14.
