Here are my week 6 top 10 rankings:

1. Dike-New Hartford
2. Van Meter
3. Bellevue
4. West Sioux
5. South Central Calhoun
6. West Branch
7. Mediapolis
8. West Lyon
9. Sumner-Fredericksburg
10. Pella Christian

Others receiving votes: Wilton, I-35, Regina Iowa City, Treynor, Sigourney-Keota, South Hamilton

No changes from 7-10. The only change is West Branch moving to 6 after the loss at Bellevue. Everyone else from 6 up just slide up a spot. I would say Bellevue has the district locked up, as I don’t see Cascade stopping them. West Sioux will travel to West Lyon on Oct. 5. I plan on driving up for that game as it will be for the district 1 title. One week of district play down, but still a lot more left to go.

I plan on attending. Just not sure what side to choose. How are the facilities at West Lyon?

West Lyon just added brand new home bleachers and concessions recently. The home side is very nice. The away side still has the old home bleachers that provide plenty of room for the visitors most weeks. The home bleachers are normally packed with fans spilled over along the fence to both end zones. The visitors side normally has more than enough room.

The school is in the middle of a major school construction project, so the area isnt as nice as it normally is.

Where are you traveling from?

I am coming over from a little ways east of the Storm Lake area. I know it's going to be a big game, and I've heard that West Sioux has some nice athletes that spilled over from last years team. It also sounds like West Lyon has put themselves in a great spot after losing a talented senior class a year ago.

Interesting that you still have Regina and SK in the "receiving votes" category.

After SK's big loss to Wilton (which I still am holding back on, it seems like the injury analysis others have offered is correct and SK just won't go this year.

Regina - I guess you can't count out until it's over, but they have to take care of business every week and beat DNH last week. Pretty tall order to end up in that official final 16 (and I guess that would land them in the top 9 as a district champ.)

Nice job still respecting WB. Can't believe some of the drop in some polls...2 to 9, 2 to 7. If I were a WB fan I'd argue 6 is even low. It obviously wasn't a good showing, but I still don't think they are a bottom half team. Still not ready to concede that district to Bellevue - I'm not bug on Cascade, but any given week they could play spoiler.

PC... I dunno if they can claw back - They certainly are well coached and have some mental toughness. They will make the Post season regardless of the district barring any wild crash and burn.

Not to ignore the west - I'll leave that to you for comment as I don't know much more than the stats and what I learn here.

Very good point on SK. I must have forgotten about them in the receiving votes section. They should be out. South Hamilton will round out that portion. I am still a believer right now in Regina as I think they will get things put together and be ready for that regular-season finale vs DNH. PC is still going to be a tough out when it comes to the post-season. They will take care of I-35 to win their district, and with the talent on their team, could cause a lot of problems in the post-season.

The west is no joke with SSC, West Lyon, and West Sioux. All three are very good teams, but West Lyon has a lot of juniors that we'll have to see how they handle the big stage getting extensive playing time. I don't really know much on the teams from district 9. Maybe someone can fill me in on those teams, especially Treynor?

PC will claw back. The district championship will be PC v. I-35 in week 9. I35 could be 8-0 so it will be a great game. Also, if you read the RPI, PC is up crazy high - like above all of the 4-1 teams. Worth looking at.

Playing Regina, Van Meter, and PCM certainly help elevate the RPI. And yes, that should be a good game as PC will get that one at home. I would say watch out for the trap game in week 8 for I-35 but they host Pleasantville who isn't the same team they've been the past couple years. I-35 does host 4-1 Colfax-Mingo this week, but should be able to take care of business there. 8-0 is a real good possibility heading into week 9 for them.
