Week 5 game of the week

I will be very interested to see both games. South Winn has one of the most potent offense in class A. They will spread you out and pick you apart. Wapsie is a much more balanced and methodical team. Will run it down your throat and air it out. I’ll take Wapsie by 14 because I feel South Winn will just not be able to stop waspies balanced attack

West Hancock and Garrigan will also be interesting. The two are rivals, and as all fans know, rivalry games always tend to be closer then they should be, although I believe west Hancock is the much better team. Garrigan did beat them up on there home field last year, so I expect west Hancock to take vengeance and win by 2+ touchdowns

Highland @ BGM could be interesting although I look for BGM to take care of business at home. Common opponent is Lisbon who Highland lost to by 8 last week while BGM rolled over them 35-8 in week 2.

It has to be Wapsie vs South Winn it might be a game for an at large bid to the playoffs as I don’t think either team will win their district.

I'm going with SW on this one unless its bad weather. With their passing game nobody will shut them down, they'll have to outscore them. SW will put up 28+ points and not sure Wapsie can beat them in a shoot out.
SW 28
WV 21

If Wapsie doesn't win big, then they are not very good. S. Winn got throttled by MFL (They couldn't stop MFL's RB, actually they really couldn't stop any of MFLs rushing attack) and after that S. Winn has played some of the worst teams in the state (Sumner-Fredricksburg 1-3, Starmont 0-4, & Postville 0-4). And Sumner only won because they played Postville! I don't see S Winn staying within 20 of Wapsie. Wapsie will have at least 3 INTs. No way S. Winn makes playoffs this year.

The BGM v Highland game intrigues me. I'm not sure Highland can contain Beck, as he's arguably one of the best athletes in class A. BGM will most likely win but I'm interested to see how Highland rebounds after a close loss last week to Lisbon on a goalline stand to end the game.

I think SW and Wapsie match up well against each other. Both have speed and skill guys but if either has a weakness it's their physicality on their O/D lines. MFL has a big, physical O-line and I read in the paper that they put up 520 yds of offense against SW and never punted once. One thing is for sure, SW and Wapsie both have great skill kids and there should be some big plays by both teams. I'm still giving SW the nod as they play at home. Weather could definitely play a role in this game.

But in the game v MFL, MFL played a soft Cover 3 zone all game long. S. Winn threw about 15 swing passes and had no defender within 10 yards most of the time. I only remember 1 completed deep ball (the other 2 attempts were INTs). Curls, Swings, slants. That's what S.Winn did well. Wapsie's skill kids are a shade better than MFL's IMO. If MFL matched up well on the defensive side then Wapsie should as well.

MFL is huge on their O-line, I'll give you that (avg. 235lbs including TE). I think all but 1 are seniors too. Definitely a strength on the offensive side of the ball. I'm just saying that defensively Wapsie will match up better. No shade on MFL, cause they are my surprise pick for a deep playoff run this year even though I don't think they have ever had a winning record in the history of the program (not 100% on that stat though). Repping the power run game of the Wing-T in NE Iowa! Iron Doc would be proud!

All good points Defense Kills! It's great to see someone with a strong understanding of football posting on these threads, not just homers that don't truly understand the game. Keep on posting! Even though I respect your opinion I still don't think Wapsie wins by 20. I think it will be a 1 TD ballgame either way.
