Fremont-Mills, Tabor at Nishnabotna
Lenox at Sidney

Game of the week: Lenox @ Sidney
This week I am looking to take a different look at the game of the week and throw a couple teams in there that aren't currently talked about in rankings or at the top of their respective district. In district 8 it seems pretty clear that Fremont Mills and East Mills are the top two dogs to beat and the rest of the district is still trying to find itself on who else will be a playoff contender. This game will go a long ways in seperating the rest at the top. Lenox comes in at 3-0 and look to move that record to 4-0. One of the best teams in the past decade of the class, Lenox hopes to win this game and propell themselves back into the playoffs that they missed out on last year. Sidney comes in at 2-1 after losing to top ranked Fremont Mills last week. They look to get that balanced attack going again and get back on the winning track heading into the heart of district play. I see this being a chess match sort of game. Both teams look to run a balanced attack offense with not a whole lot of variations in the way the line up. The team who can put themselves in better position on 2nd and 3rd down throughout the game I think will take this game. Lenox I have picked to go on the road and get the big W in district play.

Game #1 to Keep an Eye on: Midland, Wyoming @ Springville
Doing away with the upset special this week as I dont see many games that I feel there could be an upset happen. This game I feel though we should definitely keep an eye on however. Midland has played 3 of the better teams in the state so far and have struggled to gain their footing in the very tough district that they are in. They look to go on the road and trip up Springville on their home field and get a solid district win. Springville is looking to defend their home turf and look to get their first district win. Winner of this game sets themselves up to potentially earn on of the 4 playoff spots in the district.

Game #2 to Keep an Eye on: Graettinger Terril/ Ruthven-Ayrshire @ West Bend Mallard
A huge game up in district 1 as their are 3 teams that could easily take the #1 spot come playoff time. GTRA is looking to avoid being the low man on the pecking order after playing a tough game last week against MMC going 0-2 to start district play. West Bend is looking to make a statement that we can be the #1 team in the district and move to 2-0 with the heart of the schedule left. Both teams look to ride very stout and physical defenses to the victory in what will be a slugfest. This one should be on everyones radar.

I like the WBM over GTRA pick. GTRA got too much hype before running into a tough MMC team as we all know they man handle GTRA by double digit points. WBM will be too quick and scrappy for GTRA and this as well will be a 2 score game like last week for GTRA losing. I am looking forward to the WBMvsMMC match up week 5.

I don't agree with Newell-Fonda K-P game. I feel KP will be too much as Junior Jacob Harvey will tear the Newell Fonda defense. Hate to go by pervious games but KP is 3-0 looking to make some noise.

I would say the same thing about Newell-Fonda. They are the most fundamentally sound football program I have ever seen. Their coaches do a great job of getting their kids regardless of level. They just haven't been able to get the pieces together, but I have a sneaky suspicion that this will be the week. They are the kind of team that has a peaking point throughout the season, I think this will be the start of that peaking process.

GTRA-WBM will be about if youth can outweigh experience. GTRA is one of the most experienced teams in that district (besides MMC). WBM was extremely senior weighted and lost the Banwart kid. Their JV hasn't lost in 2 years or so. I'm going to have to stick with GTRA in that one.

PicksAndSticks I wish you would get some of the facts about the GTRA vs. MMC game. The score was tied 30-30 with 2 minutes to go . MMC drove the field and scored with 17 seconds left then on the kick off MMC intercepted a illegal forward pass and ran in for a touchdown. It was a great game to watch!! Either team could have won but MMC made some plays to win the game. Both teams could make some noise in post season. PLUS WBM VS MMC IS WEEK 9 NOT 5

No disrespect to GTRA, but how are they experienced? Another thing regardless of what happened at the end it was still a 2 score game. Plus KP is 3-0 led by a great back I don't think you can say they will get beat by this Newell Fonda team. They lost quite a bit of talent just like GTRA. GTRA graduated 10 seniors.

Obviously, some people think that score was deceiving. And if things went down the way he's saying, then MMC certainly didn't manhandle GT/RA. That was a tight ball game for all but about a minute.

I agree they are an extremely fundamentally sound football team that lost a TON of players on that semi-final team last year. Also I take a look at the 3 games NF has played compared to KP and its no comparison in terms of competition. NF has played 3 close games to 3 teams who will be, IMO, in the playoffs and competing at the top of their district in Boyer Valley and West Bend. I still think KP is a good ball team, just not as good as their 3-0 record might be telling people. I feel this week NF gets the W that has been eluding them so far.
