Week 3 games of interest:
BHRV @ West Lyon
Bishop Heelan @ Western Christian
West Branch @ Williamsburg
Regina @ Pella Christian
I-35, Truro @ Panorama
They’re in 2A, but BHRV will look to get on track and avoid going to 0-3 against a very talented and experienced group in West Lyon. Wildcats will look to keep things rolling as they prepare themselves for a rugged district schedule. Their non district schedule should help do just that.
Western Christian might be a bit of a surprise coming into their matchup against Heelan after they cruised to a win over BHRV last week. District 1 will be a gauntlet and could produce 3 playoff teams.
West Branch will have a stern test as they head to Williamsburg to take on an athletic and speedy Raider team. The Bears might not have a tough time in district play, so a couple of non district games vs West Liberty and now Williamsburg will help them figure out where they need to be.
Pella Christian will look to break into the win column as they continue their brutal non district slate as they host Regina. PC got shut down last week against perennial power Van Meter. Meanwhile, Regina found its groove with a win over Anamosa after a week a loss to 3A power Xavier. Both teams need this win as PC travels to PCM next week, and Regina hosts Williamsburg.
I-35 looks to bounce back after getting shutout by a decent Mount Ayr team last week as they hit the road to take on Panorama. I-35 will look for more offense as they continue to work on replacing a couple of studs they lost due to graduation. Their qb is a good athlete and might need to do even more to get this road win. Panorama hasn’t surrendered a point yet this season and has been paced by the throwing and running abilities of their qb. This win would go along way for the Panthers as they have Van Meter, Mount Ayr, and ACGC (all 2-0) waiting for them in district play.
