Game of the week: MMC @ Graettinger-Terril
I dont like picking a team two straight weeks for game of the week but this one I feel is head and shoulders better than any other matchup this week, MMC is coming off a tough loss at home to Coon Rapids and is looking to bounch back in a big way against a tough Graettinger-Terril team and make a statement in the district that we are still the top dog to beat. On the other side Graettinger-Terril is looking to make a statement with this win that they are for real and not to be messed with. After a solid week 1 road win at Northwood Kensett, they are finally at their first statement game and real test to prove if they are for real or if they still have some room to grow. I see this game being very tight and coming down to the final quarter before the salty GT defense just wears out MMC and winning by at least 7 points at home.

Upset of the week: Kee, Lansing @ Turkey Valley, Jackson Junction
The first real test for newcomer Turkey Valley. They have realitively blown thru both Rockford and Riceville in week one and two and are riding high. On the other hand, Kee has faced both teams Turkey Valley has faced and faired relatively the same in both games, setting up the eye test that this could be a good game. While some polsters have Turkey Valley rated in their top 10 for both week 1 and 2, some want them to prove themselves belonging of that spot. This week is the week they actually get tested and I dont think they will hold up. Kee is looking to come in and give Turkey Valley a welcoming gift to the class and bring them down to earth. Kee in the upset this week.

Game to keep an eye on: Coon Rapids-Bayard @ Guthrie Center
Also another team that was on last weeks highlighted games in Coon Rapids, they travel to district and class nnewcomer in Guthrice Center this week. Expectations are high for both teams this year. Coon Rapids is looking to win a district title after an impressive road win at MMC last week and Guthrie Center looking to say not so fast and prove they belong at the top as well. This I feel could have the makings to be a good game, and possibly a good rivalry maker as both towns are just mere 20 miles apart from each other. Keep an eye on this one as the winner has the upper hand in the race to the district title in D7 this year.

Kee could very well beat Turkey Valley. It would be an upset in the fact that the polls have the Trojans ranked. In fact they do have to prove themselves and Kee will be a very big test. Can they pass? Going to be a physical match-up. For Turkey Valley the Riceville score was not indicative of the kind of game it was. Riceville lead after one quarter and nothing came easy. Turkey had a pick six to give them a little spark in the first half but the going was tougher than that scored showed. Riceville is going to surprise some people. Good athletes and very physical team.

Very excited to see the CRB v. GC game. Coming in from out of state for the Iowa-ISU game and will be making a stop in GC to watch along the way. I think this is the first time since maybe 2002(?) that the teams have played which is amazing considering the distance. Definitely a different landscape now than it was then. GC was still one of the traditional 11 man powers and CRB was generally not strong. Now CRB has made a good run in 8 man while GC slipped a bit in their last few years of 11 man. Will be an interesting matchup as I don't think either team has attempted more than 10 total passes through the first two games.

I have an upset that could be very unlikely but how about in district one River Valley over Exira. Everyone keeps doubting this RV team just BC they lost the reidamen kid from last year. This team still has alot of athletes on the field especially with cockburn on defense. I feel this will be a very close game.

I thought about picking that game too as my upset but I thought the other game had a better chance at one. After playing MMC close in week one, giving the fact that it was pouring rain most of the game it sounded like, I wouldn't count RV out by any means. I think they have a lot of confidence going into the game knowing they can compete with one of the better teams in the state in MMC and the game being at home. However I think RV will have to play their A game, especially on defense, to win this game. If they can keep Exira from moving the ball consistantly up and down the field, maybe create a few turnovers, and eat up time on offense to limit what Exira can do on offense, then they will have a shot at knocking them off. If this game turns into a track meet, I dont see RV being able to keep up for all 4 quarters.

Came down from the north to watch the RV RU game. No way E-EHK loses this game and I would be absolutely stunned if it is close. River-Valley did not impress me last week. It was more a case of Remsen-Union just not being very good. I think the northwest corner (D2) for everyone except GT/RA will struggle with the rest of the state. WBM and GT/RA were the only teams to run the table in ND. Headed up to the "Game of the Week" this week, I am extremely intrigued by the GT/RA game. Can't wait to see how MMC rebounds after a tough loss. Should be a great football game.

I'll take MMC in the game of the week. I know GTRA will be out to make a statement, but MMC wants to make a statement after last weeks game as well. I look for Conner Holmes to have a big night on offense and Ben McDaniel to provide a spark on defense for the Eagles. The stats of the Girres kid are very impressive, but I don't feel he will be enough in the end as MMC wins a defensive struggle 22-14.

I agree with 285StateChamp. GTRA hasn't played anyone to prove what type of team they are. I believe McDaniel will shut down this GTRA offense and Erdman in Holmes will be running in paydirt all night. I don't think GT/RA's line will hold Isaiah Petersen. At the end of the night my prediction is 34-12 MMC

One game to look out for is West Central vs Midland. WC QB Ethan Steinbronn is leading 8 man in passing yards. Sources have also confirmed Tyson Decker will be playing tonight. He will probably end up with at least 20 tackles. Other players to watch for a Dustin Gordon, Alexander Hepperle, Matt Langel, Andrew Sharrf, and Alex Paul.

Not seeing the river valley over Exira upset happening. I'll take drew peppers and co in that one. Peppers runs for over 200 yards in the win for the spartans

Who has MMC played to prove what kind of a team they are? They lost last week and barely beat R-V. If they're supposed to be this "running powerhouse" why did they only beat R-V by 8 points? I don't care if there was no passing game that night. Any team that is man on man better should be able to drive regardless of the circumstances. I just feel like there is a little bias to be picking MMC by that much. Should be much closer. 2 TD at max if everyone is healthy for either side. Excited, excited, excited for this game to unfold. GT/RA is the bigger, more physical team and MMC has the speed. Ill take GT/RA by a score of 26-21

Kee vs Turkey Valley will the game of the week on KWWL TV tonight. Hope they give them a good spotlight game.
