Game of the Week: Coon Rapids Bayard @ MMC
In my eyes has to be the game of the week. MMC, ranked #4 in the Des Moines Register, is coming off a tough 17-6 win at River Valley and is looking to ride their two very good running backs in Erdman and Holmes. Coon Rapids, unranked in many poles, made easy work last week of Laurens Marathon and is looking to get over the hump and make a statement across the state that they are contenders this year. I think this will be a very very close game, I just feel CR-B runs a power running game that MMC has probably never seen much of, if at all and it will throw them for a loop in trying to stop Zach Evans, which I think will have a monster game. While MMC is very well coach and will keep the game very tight, I just feel too much physicallity from CR-B will push them over the top and get them the win on the road.

Upset pick of the week: Boyer Valley @ Fremont Mills
I nailed the GTRA upset of NK last week when everyone was doubting it. Lets try and go 2 for 2 on these kind of picks. I think Boyer Valley will go on the road and knock off the #1 team in state. Sure I thought they would do much better last week against a tough East Mills team but as I have been saying since day 1, East Mills will be a very underrated team and may end up winning District 8. That being said, I think Boyer will play with a chip on their shoulder after a 20-0 loss last week as well as Fremont Mills gets caught looking ahead to a week 3 district opener against Sidney. Boyer Valley is my pick this week to spring the upset.

Game to keep an eye on: Northwood-Kensett @ West Bend Mallard
Easily could be the game of the week this week if NK wouldn't have tripped up against GTRA last week. They look to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start heading into district play. West Bend on the other hand looks to keep the ball rolling and move their record to 2-0 heading into district play with a loaded District 2 schedule ahead of them. Should be an excellent game to see if you are in that area and to keep an eye on for everyone who isn't.

Boyer Valley is a very solid team, but i don't foresee them beating F-M on the road. I actually expect it to be around a 20 point (much like EM last week but BV may score) F-M victory. Phillips will be tough for them to handle. I'll guess for a 44-18 F-M victory.
