I sure didn't expect it but a major upset in 2A tonight. After getting pounded by Pella 7-0 only a week or two ago, Knoxville ends Pella season (at Pella no less) in Double OT.

Huge upset....honestly thought Pella would be a shoe in from this substate. Sets up a good match between Norwalk and Knoxville. Too bad they can't move it closer to either/or both schools than Pella.

Ticks me off to see #13 Marion playing at #1 Xavier while there is not a single ranked team in the CCA sectional. Marion beat CCA, had a better record, and yet they get the sectional?

Similar situation last year. Pella was 11-4, Knoxville was 11-6 and Pella had beaten Knoxville 2-0 in the regular season. Knoxville upset Pella in PK's to go to State

Unranked Urbandale took down #9 Ankeny 3-0 @ Ankeny.

Pella game was very interesting. They controlled most of the game but could not find a goal. Was thinking Pauly Apostoloupolous was going to take over in overtime but he wasn't hardly on the pitch? Tough loss for Pella but you could definitely tell the Knoxville team was fired up and working harder. Pella looked soft even though they controlled the match. Did the fast moving turf field hurt them?

Good luck to Pauly as he played his last high school match last night for Pella. Heard from a few in the crowd that he's moving to England to tryout for one of the professional development academies.

That is sort of funny, because the DM Register just had a story about Ankeny getting ready to make a 'Run' for the State title. Well, better worry about getting to state first.
