Tell me where you think I am wrong, especially with teams making into the Qrt's that you don't even think will make it out of the 1st round. (Moravia and Colo come to mind first)

2nd Round
Lenox vs FM---Lenox
Moravia vs Colo-Nesco---Moravia (Because they have shown the ability even in a poor district to run & pass)
GR vs GTRA---GTRA (We all know why, GIRRES)
NF vs E-EHK---NF (tough pick but I went with my gut)
MMC vs ArWeVa---MMC (Just better from what ppl have commented)
DB vs HLV---DB (Not close, like the 1st time)
Janesville vs WBM---(Somebody from the West has to come this way, geography says WBM is the lucky one)
Central, Elkader vs TV/Midland----Central, Elkader (No idea who wins the TV/Midland game, either way the winner plays Elkader, either team loses this matchup)

Qrt Final Host teams determined by the winners above and comes down to alphabet in several which this year is Z travels to A.

Order of hosting in terms of alphabet for 1 seeds goes like this;
Central, Elkader, Don Bosco, Janesville, Lenox, MMC, (Marcus), Moravia, NF
Only remaining 2 seed is GTRA so they travel no matter what

QtrFinal Matchups
Janesville @ Central, Elkader----Central, Elkader (Great matchup, 2 very similar teams, both can throw/run but Elkaders run game is better.)
GTRA @ MMC---MMC (More of a complete team, even though Girres is great, coaches come up w/ a gameplan)
Moravia @ Don Bosco---Don Bosco (It's a laugher from the start)
NF @ Lenox----Lenox (Magic runs out for NF. Brown & Kline are a little too much)

I will wait for Semi-Finals. 1 game off above and this could be completely different.

Let me know if you really think 1 of the 2nd round or QrtFinal teams won't even win in the 1st round or especially in the 2nd round that I have winning. Once again, I think Moravia wins 1st round but after that, who knows. Colo I think slips past Wayne but once again, who knows, I have heard if Wayne plays a team that can throw, they will get beat bad but Colo obviously doesn't throw and Wayne can load up the box.

Thoughts and opinions welcome! Only 46 hours and 18 mins until round 1 kick-off, can't wait!

The State says this when determining playoff pairings.
*Highest seeded teams will have the opportunity to host
*A district champion cannot play another district champion
*No preset brackets will be made for the playoffs.
*Pairings will be determined after all 1st round games are completed.
*Reasonable attempts will be made to find non-district playoff opponents for 2nd round games, but district match ups could reoccur if an opponent cannot be found within a reasonable distance.
*The Board of Control will determine the pairings based on geographic location of all remaining schools

Idk if the state would have 4 district rematches in the 2nd round. Although they did have a bunch of nondistrict rematches in round 1 that they could have avoided. So who knows.

I would predict these matchups
Lenox vs E-EHK
Moravia vs FM
GR vs GTRA
NF vs WBM
MMC vs ArWeVa
DB vs TV/Midland
Janesville vs Colo-Nesco
Central, Elkader vs HLV

Who knows what they will do.

I went with geography and travel which was obviously the states #1 criteria for the 1st round matchups. 6 rematches in the 1st round is kind of ridiculous and they obviously didn't really care that much about their pre-set rules. So I did the same thing. Tried to protect the big 3 in NW Iowa as much as possible which I think the state will do as they probably should. Also, protected the favorites in the east. The game that is going to change everything I think is the Colo/Wayne game. The matchups I made will change drastically for the 2nd rd if Wayne wins.

That is the biggest toss up game in the state IMO. Agree?

I think last year proved this round is a complete shot in the dark with where teams will go. Only thing we do know is if the #1's win they are the home team. Here is how I would maybe have it if all #1's (which I think they will) win on Wednesday. Some of my games have some travel involved but again I think last year proved that after the 1st round the state really doesn't care too much about distance at this point and going forward:

ArWeVa/Coon Rapids (winner goes regardless I feel) @ Lenox
Fremont Mills @ Glidden Ralston
GTRA @ Newell Fonda
Exira-EHK @ MMC
HLV @ Moravia
Colo Nesco @ Janesville
TV/Midland Winner @ Don Bosco
Northwood Kensett @ Central Elkader

I don't disagree with those picks high90school. Shot in the dark like you said may be the states slogan this year haha. Can't wait to find out who prevails tmrw night. Hopefully we find out before midnight who plays who 2nd round. If I remember right, last year they posted a class when it was matched up even if the others weren't done yet. Anyone else remember?

Yea I dont disagree with those picks too. I hope you are wrong though. I think(hope) the state will protect MMC and NF from GTRA and E-EHK. Those would be some tough match ups for round 2 but thats what happens when you play in the west.

It's hard for me to have any confidence in district 6 which includes Moravia, Wayne, Morman Trail, and Twin Cedars. I wanted Meskwaki to play Moravia for the first round, because I felt that was their best chance of advancing. I hate comparing scores and saying Team A could beat team C because of this score, but Moravia(#1) beat Twin Cedars(#4) by only two points and I've seen film on the game, and Meskwaki won by a few scores against TC down at their place. Don't know too much on Wayne, so my guess would be Colo in that one, although I wouldn't have them advancing past the second round.

So with your predictions Sadey, I believe DB would have the easiest path to the dome with a healthy squad ready to roll against the boys from the west. Also, I'd like to add that I do hope the state keeps the best teams away from each other until the end to make things really interesting in the qtrs and semi-finals!
