A great picture of what football is really about at the end of the day.

A
player for Wapsie Valley high school collapsed on the field and
suffered head injury during Friday's game against Grundy Center. Players from both teams were shaken up by the incident. He was
rushed off in an ambulance. Immediately after the game finished and
Wapsie had won the Grundy Center player in white immediately went over
to console his opponent.

Win or lose it is just a game and the
worst things can send us the most touching reminders of how miniscule
football is in the grand scheme of things.

Prayers with the Wapsie Valley player and family.

This is all second hand and from a Wapsie parent so take it for what it's worth.......but, is there ANY truth to the rumor that said player was the star QB who suffered a concussion week before and was somehow allowed to play defense the first half and not QB but then when needed him he played qb again as well in the 2nd half? He of course went on to say that he scored a TD and had already tossed ball to ref when he was hit by opposing player??? I'm pretty sure 99% of what this guy was telling me is false but I wasn't there and was curious as to what actually happened if you can fill us in. Thanks

hopefully its false if he was hit late. and that he was allowed to play without being properly evaluated, etc...

but that is a great example ( the photo) of showing what the sport is supposed to be about. and just being good human beings as well.

hope everything goes as well as possible for the young man in question and his family

Most of what this guy was telling you is false.

Everything of that was false that was told to you besides the very late hit after he scored the td. The hit was super late was in the end zone but was not yet tossing the ball to the ref. The kid was flagged for the hit and in alot of ppls opinions should have been ejected for it but wasn't.

Pretty sure late hit was not all of the cause. The game was pretty physical and he took multiple hits and dished them out as well.

small town false rumor

Graham pictured here is one of the best players here. I have watched him over the last seven years. He is an outstanding individual. He is also great with the youth players in the town. The vast majority of kids on this team show great sportsmanship and hold themselves to a higher standard. Not All but most. Much like every school. Coach Thoren has this team going in the right direction. He is just as interested at making these kids gentlemen and scholars as well as athletesThe WV player ran into us all 2nd half. who knows what triggered the injury. Many of us in town are still praying for him.
