I watched Pleasant Valley against both Ankeny and Urbandale in this tournament. I did not see either of the 2A teams play (Pella and DCG). Here are my observations.
Ankeny was dominant in the morning game vs. PV. The 1-0 score is not an indication of how lopsided the game actually was. Pleasant Valley has some big boys but they struggled to keep up with the pace that Ankeny played. Ankeny needs to learn how to finish an attack. It was frustrating and almost comical to watch that poor display of finishing. Juding by their scores, this seems to be a problem for them.
The Urbandale vs. PV game was more evenly matched. This game could have gone either way. It seemed like Urbandale was the more dangerous of the two teams, but PV did enough to win. The Pleasant Valley goalkeeper played well in both games. PV does just enough to stay in games and give themselves a chance to win. Both of these teams were tired having already played 2 matches in the day. That lead to some sloppy soccer.
