That’s rather interesting, not too much argument with the teams in it but the order?

1) Valley
2) Ankeny
3) Dowling
4) SEP
5) Urbandale
6) CF
7) Waukee
8) CRK
9) CRP
10) Pleasant Valley

I guess you probably have to have Dowling #1 in week two, well...because they are Dowling. That all changes this week, this is not your normal Dowling team and they get thumped by Valley Friday night. Dowling has a pretty good defense but their offense will really struggle this week/season.

I would go with Valley, Ankeny, SEP, Urbandale as your top 4. Eastern Iowa folks need to chime in. On paper CF looks like it has a good offense with big OL and good RB.

I know tickets are hard to get this seaosn, but would love to get a ticket to Valley/Ankeny in late September.

Well, being on the East coast I can tell you (short of a miracle) Bett will not make its fourth straight appearance to the Dome. I’d probably agree after round one CF looks like the pick of the litter but it’s early. PV looks solid but we’ll know more after Friday night when they play North Scott, should be a good game. IC West has some players ( just an uncooperative board), CRK, Hempstead and Prairie are in the mix but to be honest I’m not sure any of those teams are in the top five.

CF O-line is the biggest one they’ve had yet, and Ryan Ostrich looks like a pretty shifty RB that can make guys miss, so they should have little difficulty running the ball against just about anybody. JR QB Hunter Jacobson (UNI MBB Coach Ben Jacobson’s kid) is in his first year as varsity starting QB, and it looked like the game plan with him was to keep it conservative in his first game, as he really didn’t take many chances downfield, and only had 12 yards passing. His receivers didn’t help him either, with at least 3 drops in his 6 incompletions. His arm strength looked good though, so they just need to get him in the swing of things.

Like I said, O-line is big:

LT 6'5" 303 SR Drew Hoth

LG 6'4" 301 SR Tierel Tompkins

C 6'1" 268 SR Jayson Weiland

RG 6'5" 300 SR Logan Saak

RT 6'8" 235 SR Joe Knutson

Bigger question is how did you not have Ankeny ranked last week?

Load the box....

CF certainly does have a very large O line. There’s an old football adage, size punishes but speed kills. Most HS teams can’t stand toe to toe and slug it out with 300lb lines... so you go around/between them.

1) Valley
2) Ankeny
3) Dowling
4) SEP
5) Urbandale
6) CF
7) Waukee
8) CRK
9) CRP
10) Pleasant Valley

Okay, after 9/4

1) Dowling
2) SEP
3) Waukee
4) Valley
5) Urbandale
6) CF
7) Ankeny
8) PV
9) IC West (on hold)
10) CRW
