Lots of big games tonight, and this week, with many schools playing out-of-state teams. Not sure why, but this seems to be a trend before and after the Holidays. Scores and comments appreciated.

Mt. Pleasant with a big win at Linn Mar last night. Great senior guard play looked to be the key with Sartorius and Magnani having very solid games.

Tuesday night early scores:

Muscatine 50, Bettendorf 27- really rough year for Bettendorf
Algona Garrigan 81, N. Iowa 47
North Linn 105, Midland 8 ouch
Cedar Falls 73, Dub. Wahlert 67. Nail-biter of a great game. Wahlert led by one with 24 seconds left, then CF answered with a two to take the lead by one. With 12 seconds left and going for the win, a Wahlert guard tripped and went to one knee and kept dribbling, but called a time out when he was surrounded. Technical called because Wahlert was out of TO's. A.G. Green made the two free throws and Cedar Falls had the ball and Wahert had to foul. Wahlert is in a string of five straight games against top rated teams, and has Iowa City West next, and then tall Oskaloosa is on the horizon at Loras College. CF and DW are both much better than their records indicate. I predict A. G. Green (32 points) will be a four-year starter/rotation player for UNI.

IMO Pella is way down....

If you take the top 10 in BC Moore rankings and they all played each other it would be a toss up every game...

1 Norwalk
2 Mount Pleasant SE
3 Cedar Rapids Xavier MVC
4 Oskaloosa L H
5 Sioux City Heelan MRC
6 Dallas Center-Grimes L H
7 Spirit Lake Lake
8 Dubuque Wahlert MVC
9 LeMars Lake
10 Glenwood

They lost Coach Core to DM East...got to think that coupled with the talent maybe not being quite as strong has had a negative impact for them. They will rebound in time, but awfully hard to change coaches and have immediate great results following the departure of a great coach that had a unique system.

The coach they got from Montezuma is a very good coach. He had a lot of success there and would expect nothing different at Pella.

Is that North Linn score correct? 105-8? Wow. I mean cmon. How long did the starters play and why play them at all after a quarter? It had to be painfully obvious you were a better team after about two minutes. What’s the point....could have scrimmaged and got more accomplished than adding to your stats. Seriously, why even play your varsity. Dress your freshmen and sophomores for a game. No. The players on the other team won’t be scarred for life. I don’t subscribe to that crap either. The point is, your varsity gains nothing from that game.

So they can pad the stats and brag about someone scoring 40 pts....worthless and tells you how bad some 1A teams are

Pathetic!

North Linn coach should be ashamed of himself and his team.
Especially without a shot clock, this doesn't happen unless its on purpose.

Looks like they've already run up the score 4+ times.
Terrible sportsmanship.

I'm sure he is. I am only saying Core played such a unique system that it could take time for the new coach to get things up to the fanbases expectations. Core led them to a lot of wins and state tournaments. Talent ultimately decides games anyways...so Pella will be fine regardless eventually.

Surprised the Hillmer kid doesn't want to play against the best night in and night out. He should be playing at a WaMac or MVC school. I know he plays for his dad, but the kids strikes me as a very competitive type that would thrive on facing better players night in and night out.
