Tri- Center deserves the Playoffs

Tri-Center's record is 5-3. Tri-Center's 3 losses are to Underwood, AGCG, and Woodbury Central. To have them below Westwood Sloan is just disgusting. They beat them pretty easily, winning by 20. The 3 losses are to Underwood is #10 in 1A, AGCG is #13 in 1A, Woodbury Central is #5 in Class A. All of these teams are good. None of Tri-Center's losses are bad losses. All 3 of those teams are going to make the playoffs. My argument is that Tri-Center should be in if they win this week. Westwood has 2 loses, but Tri- Center beat them head to head. Westwood's losses are to teams who have barely reached 10 combined wins. I believe Tri-Center's strength of schedule is pretty good. I just believe the RPI system is the best option considering Tri-Center beat Westwood.

I think you can quit playing the Violin IF they win they will be in prob a 14 or 15 seed according to the math and if Westwood loses they will NOT be in at 6-3 it will all work out in this case

I haven't looked at where they are at in the RPI, but there a few other teams that could argue the same thing. If they have played tough competition with great records, then that will be reflected in their Opponent' Win/Loss percentage which is factored into the RPI. Playoffs have nothing to do with the "eye test", people's opinions, or what a team is ranked by some newspaper; playoff teams get selected strictly by district champions and six other's that either won the most games and/or had the toughest opponents by winning percentages. People can complain about the RPI, but I believe it's the best way to select teams for the playoffs. The only thing I would change is give credit to teams that play up a class or two against larger schools.

there are several other scnearios where a team beat team A and could end up tied at 6-3 with Team A, but will not be in Playoffs due to RPI. I can think of 3 as I was doing math based on projections Friday of course High School anything can happen in those games, but based on expected outcomes.

I'm not sure there will be any 6-3 teams in the playoffs unless they're a district champion. 7-2 or better or you aren't making the playoffs.

A person from a 3 loss team complaining about possibly not making the playoffs lol what has it came too. If you are a 3 loss team I don’t see how you have a excuse at all. Should I be saying that since all Wapsie opponents are good and Wapsie has lost by a total of 15 points total. Nope it’s simple 3 loss team pry shouldn’t make it. Also I wouldn’t worry. If they win it sure looks like they will get in so getting worried over nothing. Be happy you have a possibility to even back into the playoffs somehow with a 6-3 record. Remember last year two 7-2 teams got left out

Possible i guess, which 6-3 teams do you think make the playoffs? Maybe Hinton gets in at 6-3 if they loses to 7-1 South Obrien this Friday.
A lot will come down to what opp record n opp opp record ends up, didn’t go that far far on every team but Wapsie lol. If Hinton and Westwood both lose looks pretty much guaranteed two 6-3 non district champs will get in. If that happens the teams fighting for it will be Wapsie, avoca, Gehlen, tri center, Lawton, garrigan, and Hinton I think still would be in the mix but Westwood would fall out of contention. Lot of teams still have routes to the playoffs and not over the top crazy scenarios to get there either.

Tri-Center is a decent team. They had their chances to secure a playoff spot, but weren't able to.

That's not to say they had a bad year.

I agree but like I just don't understand why Westwood would get in if they win this week over Tri-Center. Tri-Center has 3 losses to Westwoods 2. Tri-Center did beat Westwood by 20 in a pretty lopsided game. Tri-Center's 3 losses are to really good opponents. Should Tri-Center not schedule those 2 tough non-district games (Underwood & AGCG) and have cupcake games to make the playoffs?

I think tri center tried that and it back fired on them lol.
AGCG 3-6, 3-6, 0-9
Underwood 5-4,2-7, 4-5
Records from 2018-2016
So they threw 2 pretty bad teams the previous cycle on their schedule. 3-15 n 6-12

Yeah complaining about not getting in at 6-3 is kinda ridiculous in my opinion no matter how good you think your team really is. Where I believe it is lacking is in a case in 1A. Sigourney-Keota is 8-0 right now and if they were to lose Friday, they will probably not get in at 8-1. They would have a right to complain. I understand the RPI but as a previous poster said I wish it incorporated class distinctions and also a little less on actual SOS since schools don’t really get a say on 2 of their nondistrict and any say at all on their district.
