That's a nice win for CR Kennedy. Surprised by the score. McKowen is a very good coach. Did anyone see the Wahlert game? How did that shake out?

Wahlert may have previewed 3a final. AL was superb vs Heelan last night. Best team I have seen all year, along with Dowling. Better than #1 Skutt Catholic and #1 2a WC Hull, quicker , deeper, bigger and play better D than WC.
4a state tourney is going to be awesome ! so many good teams.

Agree that this year may feature awesome matchups in all the classes. Despite past scores, the real season is starting. Xavier- Wahlert summary-- Wahlert blocked 9 Xavier shots and took possession in almost all the them, which was the difference. 6-7 Max Techow played extremely well for Xavier.

Scanning the 2A regional scores, a few things stood out:

• Rock Valley over Hinton. RV is red-hot, beating Sioux Center & Boyden-Hull back to back. Can they go 3-0 vs SC?
• Iowa City Regina escapes with a narrow win over Durant
• Unity Christian was ahead Sioux Center in the 4th qtr before a run by SC sealed it.
• Lots of single digits victories in a round that usually produces a lot of blow-outs.

Pocahontas L-M losing to Garner Hayfield 41 to 52. That is a really good team to be out already, but Garner is really good also. Hard to believe Poky only scored 41 points with the weapons they have on offense. Credit Garner or off night??????????

Kennedy is starting to come on towards the end of the year. They play a similar style to Linn Mar so if it comes down to those two in a substate final it could hinge on who is hot from three that night like it did last year. I agree with you, McKowen is a terrific coach.

The Poky score isn't a huge surprise. First off Garner is a quality opponent. Looking at quikstats this team has struggled to shoot the ball all year. Season long Fg% 46.3; 3 pt Fg% 28.5% and FT% of 59.9%. Those kind of shooting shooting % will eventually catch up with you. Poky still had a great season.
