Please remember and abide by the rules of
The End Zone. The End Zone is for Iowa prep fans only. Whatever is said in The
End Zone, must stay in The End Zone.

For those of you who are not familiar with The End Zone, this information is
only available to IowaPreps.com premium subscribers and mainly focuses on
recruiting in both football and basketball. With the 2007 football season
in full swing, look for this feature to be posted much more often over the next
few months. With information on football and basketball, this version of
The End Zone is loaded with updates!

Another
team that has raced to an undefeated start has been Cedar Falls. The
Tigers were one of the top teams in the preseason so this start was expected.
Running back Andrew Tindall has had a huge impact on the offensive side
of things and continues to hear from college programs. This senior spent
part of his weekend visiting South Dakota State and had a great time on the
trip. Iowa and Iowa State still send him letters occasionally but the
Jacks have been consistent both through mail and over the phone during the
recruiting process for Tindall.

One
senior who currently holds a scholarship offer is Bettendorf defensive back
Garrett Scott
. This senior was offered by Western Illinois over the
summer and the Leathernecks remain his only scholarship to date. But there
are a lot of other schools that are serious about him in the recruiting process.
Scott took a visit to Iowa State when they hosted Iowa, is planning to take a
visit to Iowa City this weekend to see the Hawkeyes play Indiana, and has been
fielding calls from the coaching staff at Northern Iowa. Those have been
the four main schools for this All Stater but who will be the next to offer?

Roland
Story tight end/defensive end Jack Bruns has a very interesting
recruiting story behind him. He has already been a starter on the
basketball court for three years and has been the leading scorer throughout that
time. Most would have guessed Bruns would be focusing on where he would be
playing hoops by now. But when the basketball interest slowed down, the
football attention picked up. Bruns has a perfect frame for tight end and
is athletic enough to make a lot of plays. For football, UNI,
Nebraska-Omaha, Truman State, and South Dakota have been showing him the most
interest. The two schools that Bruns did mention at the top of his list
are Truman State and UNI.

It
was somewhat of a surprise late last week when Ames wing guard Jordan
Burgason
made his commitment to Lipscomb University. Instead of
waiting to see if Northern Iowa would offer, this talented senior decided to end
the process and commit to the Bisons. After the verbal, I spoke with a
friend in college coaching and he really told me that Lipscomb did have Burgason
at the top of their wishlist. This Nashville, Tennessee program may have
gotten a steal in landing Burgason. Don't be shocked to see them continue
to recruit the deep talent pool at Ames over the next few years.

Wapsie
Valley running back Matthew Myers has been plagued by an ankle injury
throughout the entire fall and may actually have to miss the game this weekend
in hopes that it will improve. It is a very winnable game for the Warriors
but they will need him close to 100% if they hope to make another run at the
State title game. Myers has been receiving interest primarily from Cornell
and NIACC. He has received a call from Troy University but nothing has
came out of it in terms of mail or visits.

With the success that Southeast Polk has had over the last few years, it is
pretty obvious that the Rams are building a program and will be tough to beat
every year. The squad is now off to a 4-0 start and despite losing a lot
defensively, strong safety Andrew Host had been a leader behind their
attack. This senior has been receiving recruiting interest from South
Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha, Wayne State, Coe, Central, Simpson, and other Iowa
Conference schools around Iowa. Like most high school athletes, Host would
like to play college football at the highest level possible and that will be a
determining factor in his decision.

One
of the top players for the talented Newton team this fall has to be athlete
Nate Doeden.
This senior has been making a name for himself for quite
sometime and has shown off his ability repeatedly throughout the last two years.
Doeden mentioned that the only two schools that have been sending mail as of
late are Augustana and North Dakota. If the Cardinals can do some damage
in the playoffs, don't be shocked to see that interest pick up.

The
athlete who can boast the best overall record out of all of these mentions has
to be Spencer Railsback of Guthrie Center. This talented running
back was hampered by injuries throughout last fall and that limited him and his
team. Now that he is healthy, the team is sitting at 5-0 going into a huge
showdown with Manning. On the recruiting front, Railsback has heard from
Iowa State, Augustana, UNO,
Southwest Minnesota State, and almost all of the Iowa Conference schools.
He will need to continue to show that he has the ability to play college
football at the scholarship level throughout the fall.

Cedar
Rapids Kennedy linebacker Will Morio knows that his team has been through
what may be the most difficult schedule of any team in Iowa through the first
four weeks of the season. With Waterloo West, Iowa City High, Cedar Rapids
Washington, Cedar Rapids Xavier, and Cedar Rapids Prairie next, the Cougars have
had no breaks. But with a 2-2 record, that is actually pretty good
considering the row of teams that they have had to play. As for Morio, he
is focusing on the season and expects to focus on recruiting after the year.
His brother, Mike, did the same and ended up walking on at Iowa. Can this
younger Morio end up in the same boat?

As
I already posted today, Sioux City Heelan athlete Zach McCabe is staying
busy this fall quarterbacking the Crusaders to a 3-1 start and to the district
lead. He still holds scholarship offers from Northern Iowa and Indiana
State. McCabe mentioned he will be visiting Kansas and Notre Dame for
football games later this fall and has already checked out Iowa to meet Coach Lickliter.
The Class of 2010 continues to look stacked with talent throughout the State.
