This week's recruiting updates: Marcus Winterfeld, Brett Haun, Nick Tarney,
Sonny Onken, Alexis Patterson, Victor Jergens, William Warner, Andrew Epley,
Nick Phillips, Ben Kincart, and Carter Isley.

Sioux Center forward Marcus Winterfeld

Recruiting
"I have heard from quite a few NAIA schools and also Winona
State. The NAIA schools I have heard the most from are Northwestern in Orange
City, Dordt College, Briar Cliff, and then Central College."

College
visits
"My brother played at Northwestern so I know the coach there. I play
open gyms at Dordt since it is in Sioux Center. I'm going to an elite camp at
Briar Cliff in the beginning of May."

A favorite college
"Right now, I
haven't really even thought about it. A lot of my family has gone to
Northwestern but I don’t know if I have a favorite yet."

North Polk guard Brett Haun

A favorite sport
"It is definitely basketball. I like baseball too but
I love basketball. Basketball is more of a dream since I was little."

Recruiting
"Not a whole lot yet. I haven't had much contact with anyone yet."

Letters
"Nope."

A favorite college
"Iowa State."

Harlan athlete Nick Tarney

Recruiting
"I have had a few letters from schools all around. We have had
some contact with Iowa for baseball. I also have had some questionnaires from
schools down south for football."

Football interest
"Northern Arizona,
Central Missouri, and Southeast Missouri."

Visits
"I haven't taken any
visits yet. I have gotten quite a few baseball camp invites where they want to
show me the campus but that has been about it."

A favorite college
growing up
"When I was in grade school, I was a huge fan of the University of
South Carolina. That has always been my dream."

Norwalk defensive end Sonny Onken

The UNI visit
"It went really well. I met the coaches and their d line
coach, Bryce Paup, was really cool. I love their coaches and the program. During
one of our tours, Coach Paup singled me out. He told me that he loved the way
that I played and that I knew how to play the game right."

Interest from
UNI
"I have been getting a lot of general interest from them. I got a
personal letter from Bryce Paup and a personal letter from their defensive
coordinator."

Other recruiting
"I've been getting general information
from Iowa and Iowa State a lot. I got invited to their junior days and was
invited to an invite only camp at Iowa Western."

Visits
"I haven't
really set anything up yet. I have the Rivals combine and am training really
hard for that. I hope to run under a 4.75 to help me get more looks. That would
be pretty good at 240 pounds to run a 4.75."

Dubuque Senior forward Alexis Patterson

What colleges have you been hearing from?
"Quite a few but I've put my dad
in charge of handling recruiting for me, until I'm ready to take it on. He was a
two sport athlete in basketball and football and played football in college, so
he knows the process and can help me through it. The schools that have shown
interest are: University of Iowa, University of Wisconsin, University of
California, Knox College, Rockford College, BYU, Minnesota State, Neosho
College, Washington University, Southern Arkansas, University of Kansas."

What schools did you visit and how did they go overall?
"I visited the
University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin and it went very good. I
enjoyed meeting the coaches and seeing the facilities."

Did you have a
favorite college growing up?
"My favorite college growing up was the
University of Iowa."

Webster City defensive end Victor Jergens

Camps
"I'll be for sure going to Augustana, UNI, Iowa State, and maybe a
couple of others. Those are the ones for sure right now."

Recruiting

"I was actually just at UNI and I've been getting quite a few things from them.
There has also been stuff from Augustana in South Dakota. UNI is the big one."

The UNI visit
"It is a really cool university. I had never been to the
UNI-Dome before and it was really cool. They have great facilities. I really
like the coaches over there. They are cool guys."

Pella athlete William Warner

Recruiting
"I have had a lot of junior day stuff. UNI invited me but I
couldn’t go because we had prom and North Dakota State was just too far away. I
attended one at South Dakota State and I'll try to see more of these schools for
camps this summer. There has also been interest for soccer from Drake and
Central here in Pella."

Camps
"I probably will try to get to ones at
Iowa and Iowa State, hopefully the South Dakota State one, and then maybe UNI or
North Dakota State."

Recruiting the hardest
"I have received the most
stuff from South Dakota State and North Dakota State. It would be those two
right now."

Waverly-Shell Rock linebacker Andrew Epley

Recruiting
"I have just had a few letters from Division III schools. Other
than that, there has not been too much."

Division III schools
"It has
been BV and Central."

Visits
"No."

Planned visits
"Nothing
yet."

Recruiting the hardest
"None of the schools are showing me that
much interest."

Iowa City Regina wide receiver Nick Phillips

Camps
"I'll probably be going to UNI, Iowa state, South Dakota, North
Dakota State, and maybe a few others."

Recruiting
"I just went to
Winona State junior day. Then I am going to South Dakota here soon. Those are
the two I've heard from the most."

Winona State visit
"It was good and
I liked the campus. We watched the spring game and it was a good time."

Recruiting
"I talked to one of the Drake coaches a little bit, Upper Iowa,
and I get mail from Iowa State too."

Recruiting the hardest
"Probably
Winona State. I liked the visit and have talked to their coaches quite a few
times."

Davis County lineman Ben Kincart

Camps
"I'm going to UNI camp and I am not sure where else now."

Recruiting
"It has been UNI, South Dakota, and that is about it."

"I just went to UNI for their junior day. I was a good trip and liked
the coaching staff up there."

The visit
"We toured the facilities, the
campus, and watched their practice."

Other trips
"On the 25th I am
going up to South Dakota for their spring game."

Recruiting the hardest

"Definitely UNI."

Albia athlete Carter Isley

College camps
"I'm not sure yet. I'll be looking to get to a lot of
football camps and some wrestling camps also."

A sporting preference

"Really I have no idea. It is 50/50 each way."

future sport
"It will be what I miss more and which college fits me the
best."

wrestling."
