i thought harlan would beat denison, but not by the score they did...i have not read the stats of the game but dension had a huge offensive line against a much smaller harlan defense..also, harlan has 3 sophs playing, and some out with injurys yet,, i was sort of stunned by the score...got to give coach bladt some credit, he seems to come through wth a competitve team every year.

Maybe not a surprise based mainly on losing Eli Dunne and Bryce Lidtka,but Grinnell in the first half against South Tama looked tight,nervous and out of sorts. They had two or three bad shotgun and bobbled snaps,gave a gift t.d. to STC on a pass interception where the STC player caught the ball in the end zone and didn't have move to have a pick six. They did play much better in the 2nd half when they stopped throwing and concentrated on the running game,the final score was 34-7 but if STC would have punched in three touchdowns instead of having to kick three short field goals it could have been 50-7.

Not pretty and you are right Denison is huge! Harlan needs work on the OLine and I think Bladt should take care of that. I felt sorry for the Harlan TB....their starting center went out and they brought a kid in that looked scared to death. Harlan's sophomore TB was pretty much molested in the second half by a 320 lber and a 260 lber.

I thought Harlan would lose myself. Officiating was a disaster....Harlan couldn't get the clocks right on the new field and there was even a play on 1st down that was called for pass interference and the refs called it second and 0?

We'll see where Harlan is this week against Carroll.

harlan was actually outplayed by 133 yrds by denison, denison had 7 fumbles that cost them the game...it still looks as harlan will have a tough year....sometimes the score does not reflect what actually happen in the game...

Actually Denison fumbled around 12-13 times. They just LOST 7 of them. Harlan did struggle when the starting center went down.

thats a lot of fumbles ,denison better solve that problem.....harlan is going to have a tough time with carroll is my thoughts on the game friday

Actually, Denison had about 140 yards or so on 2 drives in the second half. They also punted on 6 of their drives. I would say 3 fumbles were forced by Harlan and not Denison just putting the ball on the ground with fumbles 1 and 2 from very hard hits. Harlan's defense did a pretty good job with them most of the night except for those 2 drives. A few of Harlans scoring drives started from about the 50, Dension's 40, their own 40 so it is what it is.

Denison is a lot better than in previous years and if they stick with the read option they can do some damage...Pauley could be very good.

And Harlan was in about 40 - 50 yards in the negative after their center went down.

Actually the score was indicative of the outcome. Harlan was in complete control except for the two drives early in the second half that oonfoofoo is referring to. If you are going to turn it over then don't let them go 60 yards twice to score two TDs and a field goal.

And yes Denison is huge but huge does not equate to athlete.
