Who has the best defense in this class and why?

West Des Moines Dowling because of returning starters.
Cedar Rapids Washington because of high level of athleticism and size.
Bettendorf, because they had a solid squad.

Dub. Hempstead is on their way back.

Southeast Polk's defense is very athletic and full of playmakers, but their secondary is small (as always) and it remains to be seen if the offense can keep them off the field so that they have legs left come the 4th quarter.

I'm going to watch Dubuque Hempstead closely. A resurgent Dubuque Senior was really fun for the city a couple of years ago, so maybe the Golden Mustangs can provide some thrills.

dowlings defense should be better than offense. Morris and Wilson are the only two all conference/all state returning on d, but jok harris patton and campero all were part time starters or at least got plenty of playing time.
