Should say ... Streamline announcer(s) were terrible

Talk about clueless those guys on the IHSAA site last night were awful. Very little knowledge about basketball, repeat the same few names over and over, and the same cliches. The supposed color guy was beyond awful and seemed to be openly cheering for Valley. In the first game he just kept repeating how bad a game it was with all the turnovers and fouls ' that's another turnover' the clown would yell. Except when he gave the totals it was twenty three for the entire game. Average for a HS game.

Hopefully, they are finished for the week since I can not attend and have to watch the remaining games. Or maybe the IHSAA will make another ' great deal' for themselves ( and us ) and sell to ESPN14.

Hopefully IHSSN can die after this contract is over, IPTV's coverage of the girls union has been very good, and CISN does a nice job of streaming the early games. I enjoyed the fact that IPTV kept referencing that everyone in all 99 counties can watch the games, and the online stream is available to everyone.

The IHSSN announcers and analysts have been terrible for years. I know during the football title game the color guy kept saying that the coaches must have seen film of the team they were playing, if there is a football coach that doesn't watch film on there opponent for every game of the season I would like to meet them.

Pretty bad in the Pella Christian game as well, announcer had no clue who the players were, kept giving wrong names, I know it's not a big deal to most, just looks unprofessional. I felt in the IC/Newton game there was a slight slant in favor of IC from the announcers. I agree though, these guys are clueless when it comes to color commentary.

I can't knock them too much because it's not easy calling a basketball game where you don't have a ton of knowledge of the teams, but I would say there have been major mess ups in the past. I'll be interested to see how they do today on CSN. IPTV did a great job with the girls' games, so the pressure is on.

One pet peeve of mine from the girls' games was the use of instant replays. You could tell it was just a "5 seconds back" button they pushed and they had to play the whole clip. You often missed a portion of the next possession, which wasn't a big deal until they got down to crunch time. Hope CSN/IHSSN just plays it straight today without messing with too many complicated video techniques.

Now that I defended them, I would like to take this opportunity to complain once more that in order to see past games, you have to pay 25 bucks PER GAME! PER GAME, people! Insanity. They could probably make some cash on those (sell them for $5 a game or $25 per class) if they weren't so damn greedy.

I agree the announcers are terrible, are homers, and they are a huge comedown from the local announcers I listen to on KDTH in my area, or WMT. They are insulting to some teams, players and maintain arrogance throughout their broadcasts. I would have to say that I don't like them.

You nailed it EastHawk, that color guy is a smug jerk with the same handle on proper English as a 2nd grader. How many ' he gots 5 rebounds now ' can we listeners take. Combine his lack of knowledge about athletes and sports , in general, plus the crappy attitude, and the IHSAA have what they typically hire. Btw, these announcers are the same clowns from the brutal football telecasts.

The announcers during the girls were really good. BJ ( ?) the lead guy was exceptional. Comparing the girl announcers to these clueless non talented hacks doing the boys is like comparing the Indiana High School Athletic Association to the Iowa HSAA.

I liked how the pre-game guys were talking about Kooima at HALF TIME. He didnt play in the game, but he kept talking about him being a factor.

BJ Schaben and Brad Wells were the two play by play guys that I remember IPTV having, both are very good, Wells does many UNI games and Schaben Drake stuff. Also there color analysts were often people who had played the sport in college or coached at the college level. Compared to the color guys that IHSSN who seemed to have played 4 square at recess once in the 2nd grade being their qualification.

I thought BJ Schaben did a great job on the girls games. I actually was thinking I would like to see him do the radio for the Iowa women's game. i was not impressed with Rob Brooks this year, but if he does Drake stuff that is probably not an option.

Amazing they really are just a couple of buffons. At least put some effort in to the thing. Hope these clowns are volunteers or mark it up as another dissipation of public funds by the Ihsaa or just business as usual.
