Here is a link from the Rag about the vote this morning. Staying at 9 games and regular playoff schedule, at least for this go around. I'm kinda shocked, considering what usually comes out of Boone. The ADs around the state must have pitched enough of a fit.

IHSAA votes for 9 games

After reading a little better, it actually never came up for a vote. Also some other nuggets from the meeting unrelated to the 9 games.....
The IHSAA discontinued sister districts for 8-player through Class 3-A and implemented a 125-mile limitation for first-round postseason games. It also did away with preset playoff brackets, which means postseason pairings will now be determined after each round of the playoffs with geography taken into consideration.

Well, we know these boards will now be busy on the final Friday and early playoff round nights as we'll be wondering who plays who. Still doesn't address the short turnarounds.

The 8 game season idea was tabled and according to the story it sounds like that was done very quickly with little discussion.
The question I have and I'm no expert so I'm asking for some help. Since the suits in Boone would like to end the season before Thanksgiving, would it be possible to play the championship games on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
This would allow the opening round and subsequent rounds to have an extra day or maybe two for recovery. I know the UNI in the playoff thing probably would be a problem, then again something could be worked out.

You might be on to something there. Nebraska already does this. Their smaller classes are 32 team brackets and they play the first three rounds Thursday, Wednesday, Tuesday. The Class C1/2 schools play their semis & finals on Tuesdays and the D1/2 schools play those rounds on Mondays.
