While most of the attention is focused on Epworth, with Western Dubuque and Xavier facing off, there are some important games elsewhere tonight, too. I mean, both these teams will be in the playoffs regardless - some other teams are fighting for their playoff lives tonight.
In D-1 can Spencer step up against Sergeant Bluff-Luton? Whoever wins is in good shape to take the district title, but while SBL is pretty much assured of a playoff spot, Spencer could really use this win to advance their hopes.
In D-6 Mount Pleasant, off to a 5-1 start, needs to defeat Solon tonight to get that district title. Solon is the heavy favorite, of course, and again Mount Pleasant's playoff hopes take a big hit with a loss.
In D-7, similar to the big D-4 battle in Epworth, it's Oskaloosa and Pella with the winner the likely district champion. Is it a down year for Pella? Or will the Little Dutch take yet another district title?
D-8 has a couple of important matchups. Bondurant-Farrar can take a big step with an upset of Norwalk, and Carlisle needs to knock off Ballard to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. I think Norwalk and Carlisle have the edges here, but can Bondurant-Farrar make noise?
And in D-9 there's the Harlan-Lewis Central matchup. This would have been bigger had Harlan defeated Glenwood last week, but it's still an important measuring stick for the Cyclones. Harlan is likely in the playoffs regardless of how this game plays out.
