This board is the slowest of all the football forums and it is the week of the first games. That means we need some lurkers to step up and get into the conversation here!
With what they have returning on both sides of the ball, they should run away with District 2 and become a very strong candidate to make it to the Dome. The team likely to challenge them is Hampton-Dumont. Both the Lions and Bulldogs have veteran teams, which will make for a very entertaining game when the rivalry is renewed this season.
I definitely think that their defense makes them a legitimate title contender. I am interested to see what they do on offense though. I feel like their ability to put points on the board will be the biggest challenge for them to make it past the elite teams in 2A.
According to quikstats, they averaged 40 points a game last season and nearly 33 points a game during the playoffs against the elite teams in 3A. I thought it was mentioned somewhere that they have the bulk of the O line and backfield back, so not sure how big of a challenge scoring points will be.
The Lions return six offensive starters (3 OL) & eight on the defensive side. Biggest ?? are who plugs in at FB & the kicking game after graduating a four-year starter at K/P.

Clear Lakes a well known football school had a good run last year in 3A. Dont know much about there competition at the District level but would like to see them make the playoffs. In 98 and 99 the CL-GLR Lions and Clear Lake Lions had some fun playoff games wouldn't mind seeing that rivalry renewed. I think both teams are capable of making some deep playoff runs this year.
