Western Dubuque 14, SB- Luten 6 Halftime. Grueling battle between SB-L's passing game and WD's rushing defense. SBL stopped around ten yard line by WD at end of half. Two evenly matched teams.

Final--Western Dubuque 35, Sergeant Bluff Luten 18. The live streaming is really bad and most of the time is out. Very frustrating via Mediacom. Hope the next game is better. I remember after the first polls came out in August and no mention of WD, and I posted that people better realize that this Western Dubuque outfit is a huge and talented team with a D-1 (baseball) athlete in Calvin Harris at QB. Only losses were to Xavier and to North Scott by 1 because they missed a PAT and a field goal.

i watched it in phoenix, cox cable....very good streaming..wonder what is going on with 2nd game suppose to start allready....epworth western dubuque is a very good team...sergent bluff hung in there , but u could tell who the better team was

Surprised Epworth Western blew SBL out that badly. Was impressed by number 31 and 24 for EW. Poor SBL qb had too many balls dropped by number 5 and special teams were terrible. Oh well saved them getting running clock again in next game.

4th qtr starting and LC is rattled. LC better score now or Xavier is going to run the clock out.

LC was driving, but Duggan gets hit as he throws, ball is tipped and interception. Returned inside the 20 yard line. Xavier scores a couple plays later. 37-13.

With Xavier's win, in the 5A and 4A volleyball and 4A and 3A football championship games-- six of the eight final teams will be from the Mississippi Valley Conference. Sergeant Bluff Luten had a really bad day today. Seeded #1 in both volleyball and football, they lost to Western Dubuque and Dub. Wahlert , both 4 seeds--- which goes to show how inaccurate seeding can be. (Addendum: If Cedar Falls beats SE Polk, which is really coming on.)

You can’t realize how physical Xavier is until you see them in person. Pella seems to play them every year and tends to match that well. LC hadn’t played them. They got a rather rude introduction to it tonight. Great season for LC. Exciting to make it to the dome.

By the way, I was rooting for LC.

Congratulations to Xavier and West Dubuque! Tonight's game proved that all the talk from the west this year was nothing by noise. It's unfortunate the Pride filled Heelan didn't get to play Xavier in the playoffs! How bad would that score have been!!!!!!!!

Wasn't suprised Xavier and Epworth WD won but suprised how easily they did it. Xavier just dominated the LOS on both side of the balls. Duggan is quite a talent but obviously the Titans hadn't been punched in the mouth this year and just wilted. Epworth WD just looked bigger, stronger, and more physical than a SB-L team that couldn't catch the ball or tackle the EWD backs. The RPI system was way off regarding the seedings.

SBL beat a number of teams this year that were bigger, stronger, and more physical than they were. Their game was a rare (likely D-1 bound) QB throwing bullets to athletes with track speed & letting them make plays. In EWD, they finally met a team who would play defense and they just wilted.
