With this being a potential District Championship game... Do the coaches play to win this game at all costs?
Do coaches try not to show too much? How do u think they will approach this game?

Interesting thought: the second game between runner-ups Notre Dame and Highland could also be a potential District final. So they are in the same boat.

After Notre Dame's two blowout losses to Danville during the regular season, there is no potential District final for Notre Dame. The fact they are back down in 1A is a huge disservice to their players and coaches by the administration at Notre Dame. In 2A, the path to get to the state tournament was realistic for ND. If they get by WMU, enjoy another embarrassing loss to Danville in the second round.

Playing up in 2A when VanFleet was the coach (2011-14) put ND in position to make it to the district final or substate. Originally done to avoid the Soukups and Danville the first two years (2011-2013).

ND in 2A
2011-12 Lost in district final to Mediapolis, 49-43
2012-13 Lost in substate to Pella Christian (trailed 45-38 after 3Q)
2013-14 Lost in substate to Albia (led 42-41 heading into 4Q)
2014-15 Lost to West Burlington 70-65 (WB made it to substate)

Seems like a no-brainer to avoid Danville and stay up in 2A where you put yourself in a position to make a run at state. Also have to win less games.

2015-16: Danville has beat ND 72-47 and 103-73.

Has Danville got everybody healed up? And yes it looks easier for ND to get to state in 2A rather than 1A. But you have to face good teams like Danville. And who knows third time a charm right stranger things have happened.

I actually think Danville will struggle more this year to get to the state tournament. As good as they are, that district is a lot better this year than it has been in the past.

Danville 72, Notre Dame 57.

Third double-digit loss of the year for ND from Danville. If ND had continued to play up in 2A like the past four years, they would have likely beat West Burlington and could be playing in substate on Saturday against Pella Christian. ND lost at WB by 2 in the second game of the year, then won by 9 in January at ND.
