Paulson opens the 2nd half with a 16 yd score, Beenken for 2, 4:00 in 3rd, North Iowa 72, Clarksville 14.

Midland was down 46-50 with 10 left, central elkader scored on its 2 ensuing drive making the score 64-46 final

The game started out 28-0 Central Elkader after the 1st quarter. Then it was 24 unanswered by midland. Warriors out scored them 36-22 2nd half. Martens kid for Midland got rid of it quick all night. Threw 64 times. Conor Harms and Dawson Paulsen are solid receivers.

Midland will be a tough out in the playoffs but I don't see them beating Janesville, Bosco, HLV in the playoffs.

Only black eye to the game was Midlands multiple unsportsmanlike penalties and the unwillingness initially of the head referee to call Midland for targeting a defenseless player. On every snap they would run the backside DE off the edge to hit the Elkader QB who had handed the ball off and wasn't making any football move in any way. This defines defenseless player in high school football. hopefilly the state comes down on them for this. At the end of the day, this probably had something to do with Midland losing. They spent more time worrying about hitting a guy that didn't have the ball than the ball carrier. 567 yards rushing for Elkader according to their quikstats. Midland double teamed Elkaders best receiver Backes which was a good game plan but a complete offensive team finds a way to move the ball.

Good win for the Warriors! Once again Midland is a good team, hopefully they clean up the non-football thoughts they have and just play football because they have potential. Their 8-6 halftime score against Bosco wasn't a fluke and isn't surprising to me now.

Midland coaches dirty ball. From the stands we could hear coaches yelling at their players to cut our pulling guards, which is totally illegal. Cut blocks have to happen on a linemans first move and upon the snap. They also got away with several chop blocks or hi lows, which is also an illegal block. If one player is cutting and engaged, another cannot block opponent up above. Any coach worth his salt knows these things, unfortunately the referees were inept and would not make a call. Instead they chose to look for phantom calls anytime Bosco looked like they may be scoring. Bosco moved the ball at will against Midland for the most part. The dirty coaching style needs to be cleaned up. it's classless. They won't get away with that style in the playoffs. The referee crews are much more informed.

Was at the elkader - midland game. Idk about the hitting the defensive player part. He was caring out a fake on a read option. A couple may have been questionable. Ehrhardt played a good game and showed some tremendous toughness. Hopefully he can stay healthy all year. Midland got stuffed on 4th and inches with 4 minutes left. If they would have gotten it I imagine they would have scored. They couldn't stop paulsen or harms even after doubling reaming them. Now elkader would have probably came back down and scored as they couldn't stop them either. Just would have made for an even more exciting finish down to the wire. Both teams played good football, made for a good game. Props to elkader on doing what they needed to get the win. Both will be a tough out in the playoffs.
And for bosco...get out of here with that lol you are just salty you were losing at half to a team you were "suppose" to be beating.

Get ahold of some tape. You will see there was no fake carried out, a straight handoff by a banged up QB with no ability to run last night. Midland was more ensnared with hitting the QB than they were doing their jobs as DE's. That is probably why Elkader ran for 567 yards.

Yes Harms and Paulsen were tough to cover. 13 catches each. They have a good passing game but Zero running game. If someone dials up some pressure and gets some legal hits on Martens I think it will be not near as comfortable for him t throw. He was 35-62 according to Midlands stats. Lots of inc, pass break ups and 3 INT's. Threw 2 of the 3 INT's in the 4th qrt. Gotta be able to run the ball at some point. They couldn't.

Great game plan by Midland throwing the ball. Defensively they were ran all over and the overall game plan of hitting the QB on every play was obviously something that backfired and just made them look bad.
