It has come to my attention that some basketball games in the CIML have changed start times due to iowa vs michigan state football game saturday night. For some reason this really amazes me i guess.

I've never heard of a basketball game changed because of an Iowa football game. Then again, Iowa rarely gets to play at night. When I sit in the stands at high school basketball games, the college scores are always passed around by the fans with smart phones, so everybody is pretty up-to-date with the scores.

A few games around the eastern border moved up because of the game. I like day games better on Saturday anyway. The real MVPs are the schools that have a TV in the lobby always on sports.

More and more are changing because of this. I think it is ridiculous that ADs and School Districts are being pressured into this. Many of these kids will now have played 2 games in less than 24 hours because some adults want to watch their football game. I get it. It is a big deal that Iowa is playing in the B1G Championship Game. It is a bigger deal to teach kids sacrifice and commitment.

You don't think any of the coaches and kids want to watch the B1G Championship game either?

That's not the point. You totally missed it.

No, I totally got your point. I just think everyone realizes that this is a huge deal for the University and the state as a whole so they're budging and allowing the time changes. They're 14-18 year old kids and a lot of the kids scheduled to play have been Iowa fans their whole lives. If they're cool with playing twice within 24 hours, let them do it so they can watch these student-athletes they look up to. AAU teams play multiple times over the course of days and weekends, I think these kids can handle two games in less than 24 hours after getting a night's sleep.

No you did miss it. And I would hate for you to be a coach, because your expectations speak of being okay with mediocrity. If the Big Ten Championship is a bigger deal to kids than their own team, I'm sure that will reflect in their level of competition.

No, I get your point completely about not changing the time to teach sacrifice. You missed my point of me saying these kids can handle playing two games in less than 24 hours. If all parties are in favor of bumping the game time up, then go for it. They're still kids, let them witness potential history.

I'm not a coach, but I'm an adult that knows about sacrifice. I, myself, as an Iowa fan wanted to be in Indianapolis so badly this weekend but I could not get work off so obviously I'm not going to bail on my coworkers and tasks at hand just to watch football. However, if they would've granted me permission to take work off, you can bet I would be at Lucas Oil Stadium tomorrow night. Please don't tell me my expectations are/would be mediocre because I would be okay with moving a time of something if all parties agreed on it. If one party isn't in favor of moving the time of the game so they can watch the B1G Championship, then obviously you've got to deal with that and play it as regularly schedule. Get off your high horse for a second and stop power tripping because you're too stubborn to view other people's opinions and view points.

It's a dog eat dog world. There are people like you that are okay with mediocre. That's fine. That's your niche. Enjoy the game.

And there's unintelligent dinks like you that don't see both sides of the spectrum. Not sure where you get that "I'm okay with mediocre" because I suggested that if all parties involved are okay with moving the game then it's okay, but go ahead and keep running your stern ship, Mr. Perfect. I aspire to be like you someday.

Like the idea of day games during the weekend. Kind of cool actually, glad more schools are doing it. Not sure 'many' game times should be changed for a Big 10 football game ? What if those players and coaches don't really care about it.

If there's no reason amongst both teams to switch then of course play the game! All I'm trying to state is that if there's mutual interest from both teams to switch then game then go ahead and look into switching. If you one side wants to switch times and you can't come to an agreement, then you're going to have to play the game and watch the replay on the BTN later that evening.

That's all you had to say then. From the door.

Well I was hoping you would pick up that those were my intentions from the get-go lol. My apologies for the harsh words earlier.

No need to apologize man. I said some things too. I just hate setting precedents. Not saying this necessarily is. I just know of some schools that have changed the game time because of adult complaints, while the teams were content playing this Saturday night. I think that is ashame.

Totally agree, because it should be all about the kids. Very selfish on the part of the parents.
