Round 2

Three games stick out to me. First is MMC vs Glidden. Should be interesting. Second is Janesville vs HLV. Time to see how for real Janesville is. And finally Bosco vs Turkey valley. Not a great teat for the dons but the best they've seen to this point. MMC Glidden is an interesting one. Very intriqued by this match up

If you're an E-EHK fan you are jumping with joy right now. Lamoni is a much friendlier match-up than Fremont-Mills would have been. They probably win that game even if Peppers was sidelined.

I am anxious to see how it works out for EHK. I read an update/interview a newspaper had with Peppers, and he came off as pessimistic about his return. The article was a week old from yesterday, and he said the doctor said he should be moving without crutches after surgery, but he stated that he still needed the crutches. I had no idea the state was controlling every round of games this year until a week ago. I found that to be very interesting, and has seemingly played well into the hands of EHK. Here's the link to the article if anyone is interested in reading it. (http://www.neprepzone.com/sports/q-a-exira-ehk-s-drew-peppers/article_cfb1c0fb-37de-55a8-ae73-8e2b9e5c74d2.html) My alum, Meskwaki Warriors and Terrell Grant fell tonight, so I'll be looking forward to Monday's games and so forth!

Have played both teams, Glidden's front line is way to strong. They are very well coached and I believe they win by 3 touchdowns!

First off EHK gets protected by the state once again! They make EHK travel 126 miles to play arguably the worst one seed left. Thats fine that way Lamoni doesn't play a district opponent I'm fine with that. But wait Harris Lake Park is playing a district opponent but Glidden is 131 miles away from them. So reasonable distance is somewhere between the two so we know that now. Also can someone give me insight on Newell vs Coon both are 2 seeds why does Newell get to host over CRB? I see coon has better record and better 13 pt ratio not that those are factors I couldn't find it in post season manual for this situation.

Found it never mind heres what it is

For the second round games:

The team with the higher finish in their respective district according to district qualification procedure will be
the home team.

A district champion cannot play another district champion.

If the two teams paired have the same district finish, the team with the best district record will be the home
team.

If the two teams have the same district finish and district record, head-to-head competition between the two
tied teams will determine the home school with the winner of the head-to-head competition being the home
team.

If there was no head-to-head competition, the home school will be determined by the alphabetical system
and the school listed LAST alphabetically will be the home team.

Yes I think EHK should have been sent to Fremont and Melcher Dallas at Lamoni. Evidently the state didn't want more than 1 intra-district game.

They could of avoided HLP playing a district game is my point. I don't see a difference between 126 miles and 131. Sent them both out of district or both in district. I agree ehk should of went to FM.

HLV will be a big test for Janesville, but at this point in time that is the way things are and should be. Turkey Valley faced one of the best in Central earlier this month and now another title contenderBosco is deep and talented, TV has some playmakers. I believe this should be a good game but could get out of control in a hurry if DB gets a few quick scores. If you are TV the old saying is(.....you can't stop them, you can only hope to contain them...). This should be DB toughest test to date but they are on a roll and are very good. Central should pound NK.

E-EHK and Lamoni both played in rather weak districts. With Peppers still questionable, what can we expect from this game? Lamoni's defense against Wayne was absent, and showed up in the second half against Stanton last night. Sidney had a decent record, but again, looking at the Cowboy's record, they didn't have much competition.

Lamoni beat a decent Melcher Dallas squad as well as Mormon Trail. What can be expected in this 2nd round game, especially if Peppers doesn't play this round for E-EHK?

My predictions

CRB
E/EHK
HLV
WBM
GR
FM
CE
DB
I feel like the Janesville vs Hlv will be the big upset for the week. Janesville will face there biggest competition and i feel like they will not be able to hang with Hlv and there big line and talented backfield. Janesville will lose by at least 1 td

Really expected Exira/EHK to travel to FM. 86 mile trip. Or 1 hour and 31 minutes trip. Melcher/Dallas is 198 miles, And almost a 4 hour trip by bus to Tabor. And on a Monday night. Melcher to Lamoni is only 72 miles. Or only and hour and twenty minutes.

It does give the appearence that the state is protecting Exira/EHK. Or that they have something against Melcher/Dallas with the travel distance.. One thing for sure is that they did not adhere to their own travel rules for a school night. Not that much difference between a 2 seed and a three seed at this point in the playoffs.

Google maps says 150 miles, but still a 3 hour drive. Same point is that is too far on a school night, and it could have been avoided.

The state is absolutely protecting Exira at this point. I get why they're doing it, but what if this easier road by some miracle gets them to the semis, and Peppers doesn't ever come back? Not to mention the fact that MMC and Glidden are getting screwed in all of this, too.

Here's what it should have looked like:

Exira @ Fremont-Mills (85 miles)
Coon Rapids-Bayard @ Lamoni (130 miles)
Melcher-Dallas @ Glidden-Ralston (123 miles)
Newell-Fonda @ MMC or vice versa, not sure which would be the home team here (53 miles)

The other games would stay the same, with only WBM vs. HLP as a rematch and everybody driving reasonable distances. But since we've got to try our darndest to give Peppers a chance to come back, we'll just have to put the screws to everyone else.

In that scenario I think it would have been in Newell. Both have 6-1 district records, both are 2 seeds and Newell gets the edge for being further down the alphabet than Marcus.

Sorry, I was looking at the I 80 route and missed the 34 route on map quest. Another thing to add is that they will be traveling past both Lamoni and Exira/EHK to get to FM.

That's what I figured, but I couldn't remember which direction the alphabet system was going this year (the tiebreaker switches from a-z to z-a every year).

Just a heads up to the Melcher/Dallas fans traveling Monday to the game. There was a detour on Highway 34 west of Creston. At least it was still there when we played Lenox a couple of weeks ago.. Allow another 15 to 20 minutes to your travel time if it is still there. West of Creston you will have to take 25 south to J13 or 110th street west to 64 north to 34. then west. You'll have to travel thru Lenox.

Anyone in that area know if 34 has opened there? Or is the detour still there?

E-EHK and Lamoni both played in rather weak districts.
With Peppers still questionable, what can we expect from this game?
Lamoni's defense against Wayne was absent, and showed up in the second
half against Stanton last Wednesday night. Sidney had a decent record, but again,
looking at the Cowboy's record, they didn't have much competition.

Lamoni
beat a decent Melcher Dallas squad as well as Mormon Trail. What can
be expected in this 2nd round game, especially if Peppers doesn't play
this round for E-EHK, and now, the chance of showers?

Talked to someone who was at the Exira-Sidney game and from what they said that games was really one sided for most of the game. Exira had the score at 54-14 and called off the dogs early in the 4th. If it wasn't for a pick 6 early by Sidney and a late score on the Exira second string late in the 4th this game could have been much more lopsided. Its just so hard to predict what Lamoni will bring to the table with the district they played in. I expect this game to be closer than what people will expect as Lamoni will play tough but they are probably the biggest unknown left for me playing other than Janesville. Just hard to tell what they really are as a team.
