Right now, how do you feel about the association controlling the pairings?

Pretty darn simple. You have can brackets, and have teams traveling three hours on a week night, or you have manageable travel distances, and possible district rematches early in the playoffs.

That ASSociation should not be put in charge of checking parking meters let alone multiple playoff pairings ... lets see
Pair up MOC vs Spirit Lake in the 1st round ... 3 days after SL beat MOC 45-0. Yep MOC will be jacked for that one , might bring about 10 fans there.
Meanwhile , send ELC 15 miles away from SL ... all the way to Clear Lake on a Monday nite ( so much for no same district matchups ) so some ELC fans can attend rather than have a ELC vs SL matchup which would bring about 5,000 fans !

Rest assure ... when it makes no sense , the ASSociation is sure to do it. Love the 2 win teams that made the playoffs, great thinking there . Those kids will be jacked to go get smoked by top seeds by 50. The sensible thing to do is get rid of those waste of time 1st round games ... but that makes sense so don't suggest that to those overpaid clowns at the ASSociation because they will add another round so 1 and no win teams can be in the play offs too

Maybe those 2 win teams should phone in bomb threats to the host teams so the ASSociation will get scared all the way in Boone and cancel the game BOOM

I am ok with the association making the calls.

To get a full seeding of the playoffs is both a waste of time and waste of resources (time and gas money) as it would really just add more bitching and moaning with people thinking some team was slighted, etc.

Ultimately, does the best team not win the State Title each year? Yes, every champion had to beat several quality teams to get there.

Also, I could care less about those 3 and 4 seed teams that one could argue shouldn't be there. Just because a 3 win team makes it to the playoffs while a 5 win team in another district doesn't...who cares? Both teams probably have the same amount of District wins, so they are likely comparable.......and neither team would make it to the Dome either way.

I wondered how long it would take some knuckle dragging idiot to suggest someone try to replicate the DM East situation.

Unfortunately my instincts were right and we have someone with the IQ of their namesake condom who had to throw it out there.

I don't really mind it! The one thing I would like to see is teams that don't finish over 500 overall on the season should not make the playoffs. I know they may have a tough non district schedule or tough district but to have 2,3, even 4 win teams in instead of some 5 win teams seems somewhat wrong. It may be mean some districts don't get the same amount of teams but to me you should have to have a winning record. It is the postseason for a reason and I think you need to earn it (Good Life Lesson). May mean odd number of teams but then reward the teams that go undefeated and so forth. It could be done! I also think it should be the same in all other sports as well such as basketball and baseball. I know the one thing that people in Boone would say is that will lower ticket sales but if you are putting the better and best teams in you would think you would get bigger crowds and gather more interest. Just my thoughts.

Orange City to Clear Lake = 148 miles
148 > 125

If 4A schools do not have to adhere to the 125 mile thing then why in the sam heck do the rest of the classes have to? Oh yeah..it says so in the stupid iahsaa manual. Silly me...and here I thought ISUChip had a great post. (you do ISUchip)

Fewer 4A schools and longer distance between several of them.

In the lower classes, there are more teams and enough of them in separate districts that allow for such pairings to be made so fewer people will complain about any unnecessary traveling on school nights, particularly Wednesday.

Now that is all the basic theory behind this. That doesn't mean the State can't still eff it up........
