Does Marv Cook have any interest in coaching in college? If he's interested, at what point will he make the jump?

Regina wasn't bad before he arrived, but obviously he's raised them to a whole different level.

Not sure if he's interested in coaching college, but he's got a son that's a 7th grader this year, so I hope he'll stick around to coach him through high school.
I hope he never leaves...the Regina community loves him and he's a really great guy.

Marv to WB when Butch retires.

Book it.

Marv doesn't have connections to West Branch anymore. And, Butch will never quit.

boy if Marv went to WB after Butch retired in 2050 it would be neat. Bringing back some great childhood memories

So...yeah. Pretty much no connection.
lol, his high school diploma...
He's been at Regina longer now than he was ever a WB Bear.
Nobody said NO connections.
If Marv does move on, it would be to move up in the coaching world, not down. ;)
Right, he doesn't have connections to West Branch anymore.
In the past? Sure. But, nothing relevant anymore that would indicate he'd be at all interested in returning to a place he largely left behind 30 years ago.

I will say.....when I first put the question out there....I wasn't trolling. Just an honest question that a few of my Hawk fan friends (yeah they stink) were talking about the other day.

Crazy thing for any of you that have been on Iowa Preps for a long time. When Regina chose Cook there were a number of people who said it was a horrible hire and they should have hired someone else (can't remember who). I wonder if those people ever came back and posted "wow was I wrong".

There were many in the Regina community who wanted the other guy as well, prominent boosters who walked away.... And came back... Surprising I know...

I was kidding about the "to WB" stuff.

Personally I'd like it to be someone with WB ties, though.

I graduated with Lance and he's an obvious choice but he just started at MV so I wonder if he'd even be interested.

Tylee, who I coached when he was in HS, would be a great choice too if he's interested in taking over.

Being a former player doesn't necessarily mean they'll be successful and I don't necessarily think someone from the outside couldn't get it done. Just would like to see it.

Who is behind the diversification in the offense? They might be a good choice?

Regina Football Supporters:

Friday night will provide us another opportunity to showcase our student athletes and all supporters of Regina Football on a grand scale with the opportunity to continue on to the dome awaiting the winning team. We have been blessed to have these opportunities for our student athletes. These competitive settings create an atmosphere that will ultimately help them become stronger young men not just in athletics but in life as well. Both of the programs involved in Friday night's contest have great history and tradition. West Branch has won 4 state titles along with numerous District titles over the past few decades. Coach Pedersen, his staff and student athletes have proven to be great young men and competitors. To have back to back undefeated regular season records and to be competitive each and every year is a remarkable feat and deserves to be respected and admired. I encourage everyone to cheer extremely hard for the Regals and desire a Regina victory! Let's do it in a positive and supportive way for both teams. As an alumnus of West Branch and former Bear, I can promise you they have as much pride and respect for their kids and program as we do. I can assure you both teams will be playing as hard and tough as they possible can while representing themselves, their families, teammates, school and their community. Let's enjoy a GREAT night of High School Football!!

Go Regals!

Sounds like he's just waiting to take over the West Branch football program when it becomes available.

Hard to tell if Coach Cook is being genuine or sarcastic.

Fairly certain it is genuine. Knowing Coach Cook he wouldn't be sarcastic about things like this. I watched him pull a couple of the players off the bus after a game because I was picking up a sandwich wrapper from where those players were sitting for their post game meal. A genuine interest in doing things the right way.

Good to hear from someone who has spent time observing the team.

I see Coach Pedersen has sent one out as well. Is there a reason for these? It's just another football game. Granted, it's Regina vs WB but come on.. I know there's usually bad blood between fans because of the long rivalry. Regardless, it's going to be a wonderful game and the winner will undoubtably have the inside track to being the State's champion.

Always want to win, have never understood how angry some people get on this thing. My jabs are usually good natured.

I initially there were fans from WB that were pretty immature about Marv taking over for Regina. HS sports can really bring out the ugly in some people and I think you saw it mostly from the WB-side.

Add that to the fact they played each other a lot with Regina winning most and it just added fuel to the fire.

Hopefully, enough time has passed to allow it to just be another game between two great teams. Enough of the personal, emotional ugliness.

Go Bears!

Once again agreement until the 'Go Bears' part. I know there was talk of taking his jersey down and I know that his picture disappeared at Herb and Lou's for awhile.
