How has the preparation been going for this upcoming season?
“The preparation for the upcoming season has been very tough. The last 9 months have been a grind doing physical therapy and weight training to full recover and strengthen my knee from an ACL tear half-way through my junior football season. Now that I’m fully recovered the summer workouts, 7on7s, and playing baseball kept me extremely busy. I am fortunate enough to have great teammates that always keep me motivated and focused.”

What are your goals for the season?
“My goal for this upcoming football season is to finish the year back at the Dome. Due to a season ending injury, I wasn’t able to complete that last year individually, but I was fortunate enough to be part of a special team that finished runner-up in class 3A last season. Not being to play at the Dome gave me an edge and provides motivation to finish every rep I take so I can make it happen.”

What areas do you feel your team needs to improve on?
“We lost some key pieces to our defense through graduation and some quality depth. A key to our season will be finding replacements for those who graduated.”

Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“Our season opener is versus Clinton. We view the non-district portion of our schedule as a great opportunity to develop some quality depth. Clinton has some great athletes, but with our explosive offense, we should be able to prevail.”

Who do you feel is the toughest individual player you will play against this season?
“I believe the toughest individual player we will face this season will be Ethan Hurkett, a linebacker at Cedar Rapids Xavier. He’s always in position, is a quality tackler, and is hard to block.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have been contacted by Waldorf University, Central University, Upper Iowa University, Wayne State, Grandview University, Luther, Illinois Wesleyan University, Wartburg, University of Sioux Falls, Iowa Central and Simpson.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“Due to participating in high school baseball, I haven’t been able to do campus visits.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Yes, I plan on making trips soon.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I’ve been a life-long Iowa Hawkeye fan. I’m such a huge Hawkeye fan I actually skipped the homecoming dance last year to watch the Iowa vs Wisconsin game under the lights at Kinnick with a couple teammates of mine.”
