How did the basketball season go for your team?
“Going into the season, coach told us there were a lot of minutes and playing time to be earned. We had lost 9 seniors from last year and all of our starting five, so we had big shoes to fill. The only players who had varsity minutes were Logan Meyer and myself. So, we had to make up some ground from last year and we had a lot of younger guys step and play. We arrived to go out every day and compete and make each other better. The season was sort of up and down and we battled some tough injuries to some players throughout the year. The season didn’t end up the way we wanted it, but I still can’t take for granted the memories that I made with my brothers and the time building camaraderie with each of my teammates. It was a fun and exciting year.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“I’ve been working out with my school team and we’ve been doing some workouts like shooting and ball handling in the morning and getting up and down a little bit. Also, I’ve been working out with my AAU team and we’ve started practice so that’s been up and running.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“This off-season, I’m trying to improve on my shot off the dribble and my mid-range game. Also just expanding my range from the three point to always be able to let it fly. Other than that, just working on keeping my handle tight and cleaning up and sharpening my game all-around.”
What AAU team are you playing for this off-season? How do you feel your team will be?
“This AAU season I’m playing for SD Network out of Sioux Falls. Our team should be pretty solid with a great coach in Coach Powell. We’ve got a great group of guys that all bring great pieces to the team and I’m just excited to start playing with them. It’ll be my first year playing with them so I’m getting to know them better and build that camaraderie.”
What are your goals for the AAU season?
“My goals for the AAU season are to get better every time I touch the floor and win with my team. Also traveling to all these places gives me a great opportunity to go out and perform and play against some great players so I get to see where I stack up.”
How do you believe your high school basketball team will be next season?
“I’m excited for the new season. We’re going to have a team that returns everybody, and we can use that experience. This summer will be a big one for us to improve a lot the stuff Coach has for us and I’m excited to see what we can do. We are just going to try and do the little things better than anybody and the wins and losses will sort themselves out so I’m excited about what our team can do.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2019-2020?
“Our toughest game on the schedule will probably be Boyden-Hull or MOC. it’s tough to say with the season so far out.”
What sport do you want to play in college?
“It’s a good question that I ask myself constantly. I play four-sports (basketball, football, golf, and baseball) that I love them all. I love everything that each sport requires and draws out of myself. If I had to choose one to see what’d be my best bet in college, it’d be basketball.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Northwestern and Morningside.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“No, I haven’t made any trips yet, but I plan to make some between and at the end of the school year and then next fall as well.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I don’t know yet with getting them in around my AAU schedule.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college team always growing was and is the Nebraska Cornhuskers.”
