How has the preparation been going for this upcoming season?
“Preparation for this upcoming season has been going very well. Not only myself but a large majority of the team has made strides getting bigger, faster and stronger.”
What are your goals for the season?
“Our goal is to accomplish what we left on the field last year. First off, we want to win the district after failing to do that last year. Obviously, we want to make the playoffs and get to the dome after falling a game short last year.”
What areas do you feel your team needs to improve on?
“I think even with getting a lot stronger since last season, I still have room to improve in that aspect. As far as actually playing on the field, I think just being more aggressive and confident in myself will go a long way.”
Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“Our season opener is against West Liberty. They lost a lot of key performers last year, but we did as well. They're not a team we can take lightly. They're going to come play a physical game and play you tough, and if you don't match that, then you'll end up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. If we match their intensity, then we have a good shot.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have been in talks with coaches for both baseball and football. For baseball, I've been talking with area coaches at Mount Mercy, Coe and Central. I have also been in contact about attending camps with coaches from Ball State, Creighton and South Dakota state. For football, I have been in touch with coaches from Minnesota State Mankato, Simpson, Central and Coe.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest (skip question if this does not apply)?
“For baseball, Mount Mercy has been in touch with me the most frequently. For football, Minnesota State has been in touch with me the most often.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I made a junior day visit to Simpson this last spring for football and attended one at Mount Mercy for baseball. I also visited Arizona, Arizona State and Grand Canyon University this last spring.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“As I start to see who has the most interest in me, I will plan more college visits accordingly.”
What camps did you do this summer and how did they go?
“With baseball, I was not able to attend any football camps. I plan on attending a camp at Creighton in mid-August before football gets into full gear.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Growing up, I was a big Hawkeye fan, but as I got older, I grew into a big Oklahoma State fan and Texas A&M fan.”
