How has the preparation been going for this upcoming season?
“It is going great. I don’t only train for football in the offseason, as I work out for all sports that I participate in. I’ve gained almost 20 pounds in preparation for this season, so I’m very excited.”
What are your goals for the season?
“I have no personal goals in terms of statistical categories. My goal is to go out and perform my best every game. As a team, each and every one of our goals is to win a state title. It’s a grind every single day working towards that goal, but we feel we have the talent to do that.”
What areas do you feel your team needs to improve on?
“I don’t necessarily see a specific weakness when I look at our team to be completely honest. I think we all need to be individually better ourselves in preparing for the season, which we’ve been doing all offseason. When we put that together, I think it could be very scary.”
Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“I think one thing I’ve learned throughout high school sports is to never underestimate an opponent. The only thing we can control is what we do. I believe if we can do that, we can beat anyone we play. Other than that, it’s about going out each and every game and giving it 100% and giving ourselves the best chance to win.”
Who do you feel is the toughest individual player you will play against this season?
“Cam Fulcher was really good last year, but Jacob Herold really tore us up last year with 300 yards in the air, as well as receiving 3rd team all-state honors. We expect him to be just as good if not better for them this year.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Wartburg for baseball has been in touch with me lately. I visited the campus recently.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Wartburg.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Any college that shows interest I would most likely plan to visit there.”
What camps did you do this summer and how did they go?
“I went to a freshman/sophomore showcase at Duane Banks Stadium at Iowa hosted by PBR. That was the first time I’ve done one of those things and it went really well.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I am a die-hard Hawkeye fan ever since I remember.”
