How did the spring and summer go for you with basketball?
“I had planned on playing for Tryon Gym this summer, but with COVID that could not happen. We still had open gyms three times a week at Van Meter. It gave us a chance to work on chemistry and see what our team was going to look like this winter.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“I plan on shooting and lifting every day before school, and open gyms should start up again towards the end of football.”
What have you improved on the most since last season?
“I think my mentality is what will improve the most. I have gotten bigger and stronger, and all my skills have improved. But being the only returning starter, I’ll understand that my role is changing and that for us to win ball games, I will have to score more and have the ball in my hands more.”
How do you believe your high school basketball team will be next season?
“We have all the pieces we need to be a successful team, a winning culture, good upcoming players, and very good coaching. After a few of the guys get varsity experience, I think we will be a very tough team to beat.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2020-2021?
“I think that our toughest game will be DMC. It is a rivalry game and they always have good players that compete well. It’s always a close game when we play them.”
Who is the toughest individual player you will play against this season?
“I think that the toughest player we will play is Ben Loverude. He’s a skilled player with good size, athleticism, and can shoot the ball well. We will have to not let him get going or he will cause us problems.”
What sport do you want to play in college?
“I would like to play basketball.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t had much recruiting. I’m hoping for a big junior year to really open up recruiting.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“No.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Growing up in Iowa, it’s always been a dream to play at one of the three D1 colleges.”
