How did the basketball season go for your team?
“We had a pretty good season and ended with a 10-13 record. A lot of the games that we lost were really close all the way to the end. We had a lot of really close games with some teams that made a run in the postseason. Rock Valley, for instance, made it to the state tournament, and we lost to them twice in the regular season, once by 1 point and another by 2 points.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“My plans for working out include getting in the weight room routinely throughout the off-season to get faster and stronger. I am getting in the gym as much as possible to work on my shot and finishing around the rim. I Just want to work on my athleticism all together.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“This off-season, I think the thing I need to work on the most is my 3-point shot. Also, improving on being aggressive and strong when driving to the hoop. Defensive positioning is also something I could work on. In addition, I need to be smarter with the ball and prevent turnovers.”
How do you believe your high school basketball team will be next season?
“I think that we will do pretty well this upcoming season if we come together as a team and everybody does their part and gets better in the off-season. I think we’ll be pretty close to the top of the conference. There are some big players that are going to be gone from opposing teams in the Siouxland, so I think that we could have a pretty good season.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2019-2020?
“I think that the toughest game we will have next season will be against Boyden-Hull. They were at the top of the conference this year and are the runner-up in 2A this year. They are losing a couple of key players, but they are still going to have a lot of talent and will definitely be one of our toughest games.”
What sport do you want to play in college?
“The sport I would like to play in college is basketball. It’s always been my favorite sport and I’ve always had a passion for it. I just love the competitiveness of the game.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Not much recruitment has been coming my way, although recently I have been in touch with a couple of college coaches through email just asking to see film and stuff of that matter.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college visits.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“So far, I plan on attending Buena Vista’s Elite Camp, and then any other camps that are close to home. Also, any team camps that my school team may participate in, so far, we will be in the Dordt Team Camp and the SW Minnesota Shootout.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I always wanted to play basketball for one of the colleges close to home at a school like Dordt or Northwestern.”
