How did the high school football season go overall?
“I feel like we had a really good season this year. We had a rough season last year, but we only graduated 3 seniors, so we were bringing back a lot of experience. We came into the season with a really good attitude and we stay focused on changing the culture and leading the program in the right way. We ended 5-3 and made it to the second round of the playoffs. We lost to South O’Brien in a game that we really felt we should have won. Overall, it was a good year, and our guys had a lot of fun playing together.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I'm playing basketball now, which I also really enjoy and I'm excited for. I'm continuing to lift weights and work on my speed development with our coaches to get ready for my senior year.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“For next year, I'm focusing on a couple on things to improve on. Obviously, I'm working on getting faster and stronger which correlates to the football field. I'm mainly focusing on my passing and improving my mechanics and arm strength. This was my first year ever playing quarterback, so it was different for me doing something I've never done. With my experience now at the position, my coaches and I feel that if I work this offseason on just becoming more accurate with my throws, that will be a huge benefit and make our offense very good.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe that we have a lot of potential for next season. We lost a few very good players, but I'm confident we have some younger guys that will be ready to step up and fill in. We are bringing a lot of key pieces back, and we believe we can do some damage next season.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“We have some good teams scheduled for next season. Obviously OABCIG is a very good team that is always a challenge to play against, but those also lose some key players next year. We feel good about our scheduled games for next year.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I do have interest in playing a college sport. It would be very hard for me to give up the games I love so much. If I do play a sport in college, it will either be football or basketball. I just love both sports so much that I'm not sure which one I'd want to continue with.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, I haven't been getting recruited that hard from any colleges. I've just received emails and some DMs from coaches reaching out and inviting me to camps, but not a ton of interest so far which I hope to change.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“No, I haven't made any trips yet, but I've been talking to our guidance counselor at school about setting some up. So far, we've discussed possibly making a trip to Central.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I've always been a diehard Hawkeye fan. I've been to many football and basketball games in Iowa City.”
