How did the high school football season go overall?
“This season was just amazing. We lost a great group of seniors from last season, especially up front, which made us very young in some key areas so there was some uncertainty, but we found a way to win back-to-back state championships. Really, just an unreal season, it was a lot of fun.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Well, I didn’t get much time to heal and jumped right into basketball season. I think we were able to get four full practices in before our first game so there were a lot of adjustments on the fly. Christmas break came at the right time because we were able to rest our legs for a while. With being a four-sport athlete, I have to eat and lift to maintain weight which I have been able to do pretty well. I mix that with speed and agility workouts three times a week to keep developing that first step explosiveness and overall athleticism. This summer I’ll get to as many skill camps as I can since last year was all canceled. I also run track and play baseball, so my schedule stays pretty full.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We were young up front this year but those guys got a lot of experience so we will be better there, but we do lose Cooper DeJean, so we will have to fill that hole as best as we can. We will still have some nice skill players returning. Obviously, our goals have not changed, we want to win our third state championship.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“With Covid, our schedule changed a little this last season so I am not sure what our non-conference schedule will look like. In our district, Underwood will be tough and Treynor was young last year so they will be better.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“In district play, the player that stands out is Alex Ravlin. He was a good player and tough to prepare for.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“As a kid, I have always dreamed about playing football or basketball in college. With how football has gone, I have started to focus on that goal at the next level.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I communicate almost daily with many different coaches from the D1 level to NAIA through texts, Twitter, and a lot of letters. NDSU, St. Thomas, Drake, and Wayne State just to name a few of the schools who I talk to almost on a daily basis. After the early signing period for this years’ class, contact has really picked up.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest (skip question if this does not apply)?
“I would say any of the four I mentioned above. I have a lot of conversations with many coaches across the country, but those four are consistent.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“With Covid, I have not made any trips yet and basketball has made it tough as well. I am close to making a couple within the next couple of months.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I grew up in a Hawkeye family, so I have always loved the Black and Gold.”
