How did the high school football season go overall?
“The football season was great. I was going to be the starting quarterback until our best receiver tore his ACL and my coach decided to switch me. I didn’t think I would start until I had a big play in the Boone and Indianola games. It was my best season yet.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now, I’m playing basketball and I do workouts for throwing on Sundays. I also do lifting in the mornings with agility and speed practice after practice. In the spring, I have track and will continue to do those workouts. In the summer, it is golf, which was my favorite sport up until my freshman year.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“This next year, my main focus is speed and agility. I feel like my forty time and shuttle times are not good enough.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Next season, I’m confident we will make the playoffs. The team we have is amazing. We have four returning linemen and our defense was already loaded with talent. Our goal as a team is to make the Dome. It would be amazing to have that experience.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“The toughest competition next season will be Pella and Ballard. They have a lot of talent returning and are set to make a good run next season.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“My goal originally was to go to college for golf. My dad played at UNI and was a two-time state competitor in high school, but when I switched to QB last year, things changed. I’m able to play football and I want to do that.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, the colleges have been from the Midwest like Simpson, Monmouth, Wartburg, and Drake.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Drake and Monmouth are recruiting me the hardest. I’ve been on visits to both of their campuses and I absolutely love Drake so far.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“Drake and Monmouth.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Next football season, I would like to tour bigger Division 1 schools. I feel like if I have a good senior year, I can show college coaches my potential and work ethic.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Iowa for sure. We used to host parties for big games at my house and we’d get the whole neighborhood in on it, but I don’t feel like Iowa is the right school both athletically and academically for my future.”
