How did the high school football season go overall?
“I had lots of fun this season! It was so much fun playing alongside my teammates and build the bonds that we did. It didn’t end the way we wanted but it’s more motivation for next year!”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Since football has ended I’m now heading into wrestling season which is a grind and I’m super excited for this season, and after wrestling I’ll be in the weight room often and I’ll be doing some speed work. Hopefully I can also get invited into some camps as well.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think we have a lot of potential, as well as a lot to improve upon from last year, we’re losing a lot of important guys but that means there’s a lot of opportunities for these younger guys to step up, it also allows me to be a bigger leader.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I haven’t really looked into who we’re playing next year but I feel like we can beat anyone if we play as one unit.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Last year we played against two division one athletes (Jahsiah Galvon and Nolan DeLong) and Nolan will be back next year so he’ll be a tough test for us.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes I would love to have the opportunity to play football for a division 1 program.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far I’ve only really gotten some Gameday invites from Notre Dame, Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, and UNI but I haven’t had any offers yet.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Again I’ve only really talked to the recruiting coordinators from these schools so I’m not really heavily recruited at the moment, I hope to be soon though!”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I’ve had Unofficial Gameday invites from Iowa, Iowa State, UNI, Illinois and Notre Dame.”
Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“At the moment now, after wrestling I’ll really make a push to go to visit some schools. Or when I have time during this season.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I always appreciated Iowa considering both my parents were collegiate athletes there as my dad (Jim Poynton) played football and my mom (Mary Poynton) swam at Iowa.”
