What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I’ve had some buddies come back from college at Grand View and we made a workout program we’ve been following. I’m lucky enough to have a building I can lift at. We lift 3 days a week, and 3 other days we do speed and agility just outside Dodger stadium.”

What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I’ve put on 25 pounds since last football season, yet I feel lighter and quicker than I ever have before. I think it’s due to the ladder work we do all the time. Even through wrestling season, I tried to keep up with it as much as possible.”

What are you trying to improve on before the football season begins?
“Since I’m going to be a 3-year starter, I really want to work on my leadership abilities as a lot of our team graduated last year. As for on the field, I’d like to be more of an athlete in general. While putting on weight, I still want to be more flexible, quicker, and looser than before, with a focus on being more technically sound.”

How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I think we are a new, young team as far as grade-wise as well as experience. That being said, we have great coaches that we trust, and leaders on our team that can steer us in the right direction. I think it’s only right to aim for the playoffs as we’ve been there the past two years.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“1000% Dowling. They’ve been a thorn in literally everyone’s back the past 7 years. Anyone who beats them this year will really be making a statement.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against this fall?
“It’s most likely down to Brody Brecht or Tucker Langenberg. Those are both freak athletes.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I’d love to play football in college as long as my body lets me. I play baseball, wrestling, and I throw shot put too, but I’m not interested in any of those at the collegiate level.”

What colleges have been recruiting you
“I’ve been contacted on Twitter DM’s by coaches from Minnesota State-Moorhead, the University of Sioux Falls, Concordia-St. Paul, and Culver-Stockton College. I also talked with coaches at Grand View when I attended their camp last summer.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“The University of Sioux Falls has been in contact with me by far the most. There have been two coaches from there that have talked to me and it’s by far the most appealing college as of now. Minnesota State Moorhead is probably next, as their recruiter has texted me a lot. Just a disclaimer, no offers yet, just talking.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I was setting up a visit to Moorhead before everything went down with the virus. But no, not yet. That’s definitely my next step in finding out which college fits me.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Because of the virus, no. Moorhead and Sioux Falls still want me to go up when the time’s right.”

What camps are you planning to do this summer?
“If there are any camps this summer, I’m going to Grand View for sure. As well as hopefully Moorhead and Sioux Falls. Other camps I’d like to go to would be Upper Iowa, Simpson, Morningside, or others. Probably not all of those, but as much as possible.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Other than Iowa, my brother, Sean, played at Grand View and won the national championship in 2013. I’ve always looked up to him in football so that was probably it.”
