How has the season been going so far?
“We started out the season this last Friday against Wilton but fell 13-27. However, they are ranked in 1A and I have to give them credit. They are a very good football team. We stuck with them through three quarters and got worn down in the last 12 minutes. Personally, I started off with a 85 yard pass down to the five and ran in for a touchdown on the next play. Then to start the second half, I threw a touchdown pass to our top receiver. Overall, I ended up with roughly 185 passing yards total. I always make myself believe that my team and I can do better and we can only go up from here. On a bright note, we got our hardest game of the season out of the way.”

Who is your next opponent? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“Next Friday, we head up to North Cedar for our second non-district game of the season. We beat them 35-6 last year and they lost some pretty key players. I’m hoping we can put some numbers up, but we are in no way looking past them. They have some younger guys that I’m sure have evolved and I am looking forward to the challenge.”

What do you feel your team can improve on?
“As a team, I think we can all agree that we can improve in our individual areas. I certainly can improve on some of my reads and looks offensively. Our back and receivers could tell you that they need to run routes a little harder and hold their blocks a touch more. Our line struggled at times, but after week one, we have plenty to learn from.”

What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“I really think our defense is pretty solid and will continue to grow. However, offensively, if we have our run game and passing game going at the same time, then I truly believe we will be very hard to slow down.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“If the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely consider playing at the next level. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season finishes out and see what the future has to hold. Football would be my main focus, if at all possible.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Just a few smaller schools have reached out to me but none to look past. Loras, Simpson, Coe, and Western Illinois are the main schools.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any trips for football quite yet. I am considering going to a few game day visits at schools this fall.”

What camps did you attend this summer? How did the camps go overall?
“Over the summer, I attended Iowa State’s camp and Wisconsin’s camp. I loved ISU and really enjoyed the camp overall. I competed very well at Wisconsin and felt very strong leaving camp, going into our summer workouts.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Iowa State has always been a favorite of mine. My dad and brothers have all gone to school in Ames and I instantly fell in love with campus and the facilities. My family always goes to multiple games throughout the year. There’s nothing better than a packed Jack Trice Stadium.”
