How has everything with the football season been going so far?
“Our team is really making progress on the offensive side of the ball and I believe we may be the top 4A team in the state in total offense right now. The team is really starting to come together at the right time to make a final run to finish out the season. We’ve worked extremely hard all summer and throughout the season to get to this point.”
What do you feel your team can improve on?
“Occasionally our team will face distractions that challenge our focus for practice and games. It takes all of us to bring the team together, so we are healthy and prepared for every Friday night. Coach Dale Ploessl and his coaches do an amazing job teaching and motivating us so that we are ready to compete against any opponent we face.”
What are the keys for your team being successful going forward?
“While we have one of the best offenses in the state, one of our team goals would be for us to continue to improve our running game so that we have a balanced offensive attack. Our offensive line and running backs are getting better every day. Our team knows that a major factor for securing any win would be the ability to run the ball well. Our defense is also working incredibly hard to improve as well.”
What are your goals for the rest of the season?
“One major goal would be to beat our rival school, Dubuque Hempstead. This is a game that we know if we set our mind to it and work hard in the practice up to the game, we can be successful. Another goal would be to make it to the playoffs. If we continue to work hard and keep doing what we’re doing, then we definitely have a shot. Personally, my goal is to do whatever Coach Ploessl needs me to do to help our team win football games.”
What colleges do you think may be recruiting you?
“I am receiving interest from several Ivy League schools.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I attended camps at Harvard, Yale, Iowa, and Iowa State this summer.”
Do you have plans for game day trips this fall?
“I am focused on academics and helping my team win football games right now. I am planning to visit several schools once the season has ended and throughout spring and summer of 2020.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Iowa. I’ll always have fond memories of going to the games with my friends; tailgating, watching the game, and just enjoying the game-day experience.”
