How did the high school football season go overall?
“We went 4-5 overall. We lost two games by one point and one game by eight points. It was disappointing because we could have done better. We had a great team, but just fell short in a few games.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I’m currently wrestling for Hempstead at 285 for Varsity. I had a lot of coaches over the years tell me that wrestling would make me a better football player, which I firmly believe it has. After wrestling season is over, I’m in a Strength and Conditioning program at Signature Fitness to supplement the weightlifting program at Hempstead.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“I’m working on developing better hand speed and flipping my hips. As a defensive tackle, I get double-teamed a lot. Being able to break the double-team and stand my ground is also something I’m developing.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We had five sophomores play at the varsity level all season. For the last couple of games, our kicker was hurt, and we brought up another sophomore to fill that role. Our current junior class has smaller numbers but are strong with talent. When we bring them together with our current sophomore class, we should have a great chance to make the playoffs.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“We have a very tough schedule next season. We play Bettendorf, Cedar Rapids Prairie, and Cedar Falls all on the road. Each of those teams made the playoffs this season and should be just as good next year.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I want to play football at the highest level possible, but I don’t have one specific school I’d like to play for. Earning a scholarship and a college degree are my overall goals.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have not talked to any schools yet.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“This summer, I went to camps at Iowa, Iowa State, UNI, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I don’t have any scheduled visits, but I am planning on going to the same camps next summer and might go to a few more.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I have always been an Iowa fan, but I would like to play anywhere that I could earn a scholarship.”
