How did the high school football season go overall?
“You can never complain about winning a state championship. I felt like I grew exponentially as a football player in terms of both skill and athleticism, which is about as much as you can ask from your junior year.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I plan on continuing the rigorous weight training, both the team stuff Dowling has us do and off on my own time. I don’t participate in any winter sports, so I can dedicate a lot of time in the weight room and speed and agility work. I do participate in track and field, so I’m looking forward to that come spring.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“As I mentioned before, I feel I improved a lot this year, but there is still plenty of room to grow. I was lucky enough to be coached by Andy Pollock and the legendary Jim Williams. They really want me to work on my footwork, hand placement, and quickness.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“There is always speculation about next year, but I feel like Dowling will always have a successful team and program. The culture created by Coach Wilson is superb, everyone invests all in, and we possess a ton of talent and great leadership. Adversity will come, but we are a team that is equipped for success in all aspects.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“Valley is a historic rivalry, so there isn’t much room to argue against that being one of our biggest games. Ankeny Centennial is another successful program, and they no doubt are going to give us some great competition.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“My brothers are a huge inspiration for me. I try to emulate a lot of their successes in the classroom, on the football field, and within the community. I want to do as they did and use football as a vehicle for higher education. I hope that’s something that comes to fruition in the future.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Mostly Ivy Leagues. I’ve been in contact with UPenn, Princeton, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Yale. There are a few other schools such as Miami (OH) and Purdue.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Princeton has been doing a great job of building a relationship.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have been on campus to UPenn, Princeton, and Iowa State has had me for a game day visit. I was invited but was unable to go due to playoffs to Miami (OH).”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
"Not in particular, but I’ve always enjoyed watching college football.”
