How did the high school football season go overall?
“The 2020 football season, simply put, was a failure. I care about winning above all else and we lost in the semifinals of state in a close game.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I am a three-sport athlete, so my current workouts are geared towards winning a state title in wrestling. We lift year-round and really focus on getting bigger, faster, and stronger, as well as getting quicker with speed training. But during wrestling, I have to be careful not to gain too much weight. One really good thing about wrestling is that we compete against people from all classes, and I think that the fact that I’m beating all of the guys from the bigger schools showcases that even though I’m from a small school, my work ethic, commitment, and dedication will not be outdone by anyone.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Next year I think our football team has the capability to achieve our one and only goal of winning another state title. We lost some good seniors but at the end of last season we had some tough underclassmen starting to step up and we’ve been working out together and I think they will be ready for next year.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We will be gunning for two teams in particular next year and that will be the team that beat us, Fremont Mills, and then the team that has our trophy-Remsen St. Mary’s.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Next year, I don’t think any one individual player will be what can beat our team. I think the only thing that can beat us is if we beat ourselves.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“In college, I’m going to be competing no matter what as I love it too much. Although I don’t know if I’m going to wrestle or play football, the University that gets me will be glad they did. My choice on if I’m going to wrestle or play football will be a hard one though.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I would say that I have not been recruited a lot in my eyes, but I have been recruited by Wisconsin, UNI, NDSU, Iowa State, Wayne State and a lot of smaller schools.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Probably Wisconsin for wrestling. For football, they are all probably similar with nothing too strong.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college visits yet.”
