How did the football season go for your team?
“This past season went extremely well for our program. With the limited numbers, we had a lot of people that counted us out. It was great to prove them wrong and put ourselves in a position to make a run at a state championship. That is the ultimate goal in the end.”
What are your workout plans now going forward?
“Starting right after Christmas, I've been in the weight room every day and even during basketball season just to get my body ready for this spring and summer where I plan to work out twice a day for five to six days a week. I'm prepared to make sacrifices during this time, but it's necessary for me if I want to achieve the goals I have in place.”
What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“This off-season is all about strength for me. I feel like I've got all the intangibles and characteristics it takes to be great, but now it's all about putting the time in and building my body up to dominate once the season comes.”
How do you believe your team will be next season?
“This upcoming season I believe there will be some growing pains. We lost a lot of seniors that were not only great players, but also great leaders. There will have to be a lot of young guys step up this year and prove what they can do. I hope we can get them going as soon as possible.”
What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“Our 2018 schedule consists of a few tough teams and a few teams we don't know much about since the new districts came out. We have North Scott on our schedule again, but this time the game means more because it could decide a playoff berth. Considering what's at stake, North Scott will be our toughest opponent.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Just as of the last few months, I've made my decision that I want to pursue football in college over basketball. I have the highest ceiling in football and this is my best shot at playing at the highest level I can.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I've heard from South Dakota State, Saint Cloud State, Minnesota State Mankato, Drake, and a little from Iowa State.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“As of now, South Dakota State has kept in contact with me the most. I have made phone calls back and forth and have been texting with their recruiting coach for my area.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have been to two different junior days. One was to South Dakota State and another was to St. Cloud State. Both of them were great experiences. I loved the facilities and campus all together for both.”
What camps are you going to this summer?
“I plan to hit the in-state camps at Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI as well as the South Dakota State camp.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Growing up, I've been mostly an Iowa fan, but I'll cheer for any Iowa team if they're playing.”
